Local and International IUPAT Leadership Celebrate Decatur Trades & Labor Assembly’s 50th Anniversary L a s t D e c e m b e r , G e n e r a l President James Williams was the keynote speaker for a crowd of 360 union men and women in Decatur, Illinois, who gathered to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the local Trades & Labor assembly. He was joined by IUPAT Executive General Vice President Kenneth Rigmaiden and other representatives of the International, as well as the leadership team of IUPAT District Council 58 in Southern Illinois. Celebrating 50 years of brotherhood are (left to right): IUPAT General Vice President Kenneth E. Rigmaiden, IUPAT General President James A. Williams, DC 58 Business Representative and Decatur Trades & Labor President Bill Francisco, DC 58 Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer Gregg Smith, LU 288 President Danny Manning, and LU 288 Recording Secretary Jason Keller. DISTRICT COUNCIL 77 TAKES CARE OF THOSE WHO SERVE OUR COMMUNITIES Members and apprentices of DC 77/ LU 1756 of New Ellenton, South Carolina, recently did their part to renovate the nearby New Ellenton Volunteer Department Training Center. I N T E R N A T I O N A L U N I O N O F P A I N T E R S A N D A L L I E D T R A D E S DISTRICT COUNCIL 81 HONORS 50-YEAR MEMBER The leadership and members of District Council 81 (Iowa, Nebraska, Western Illinois) declared December 12, 2009, as Eugene Rome Day in honor of Brother Rome’s 50 years of service to his local union, his district council, and his state and local building trades. Rome has served as both delegate and trustee to Local Union 676 in Rock Island, Illinois, and continues to serve as secretarytreasurer of the Iowa State Building Trades Council. Congratulations and thank you for your years of dedicated service! Celebrating Eugene Rome’s service to his union (left to right) are: DC 81 President Mark Myers, honoree Eugene Rome and DC 81 Business Manager/Secretary- Treasurer Deb Groene. Also recently honored for 50 years of service was Brother Vic Machir of Local Union 246. He began his painting career when he was just 16 years old and went on to become a signatory contractor of the IUPAT. Congratulations and thank you for your years of dedicated service!
