Over 3,500 people flocked to Wardown
Park on Wednesday 26th June to join in
the fun at Picnic in the Park 2013, which
was officially opened by the Mayor of
Luton, Cllr Sheila Roden.
This year’s theme was healthy teeth and lifestyles, with
children and parents queuing at the Department of
Health unit to ‘show the dentist their smile’, helping
young children to become familiar with attending a
dentist in a fun way.
Children had a fantastic time taking part in the
challenge of finding pictures of a toothbrush,
toothpaste and a smiley tooth at selected stalls, and
received a free toothbrush, timer and a teeth cleaning
chart from the friendly Toothbrush Man and Tooth
Fairy.
There were plenty of other fun activities specifically
designed for the under-fives including craft activities,
face painting, bouncy castles and slides, obstacle
course, story time and children’s theatre. Several
children participated in a session of Action kids which
involved singing, blowing bubbles and doing the
hokey cokey. Children were also able to get behind
the wheels of a fire engine and ambulance.
