Acknowledgements
We would like to thank all the partners with whom we have worked over the years to improve the nutrition of infants,
young children and women in Madagascar, particularly:
• the Ministry of Health, through its Nutrition Service, the Regional Health Offices of Antananarivo and
Fianarantsoa as well as all the District Health Offices with which LINKAGES worked;
• all the partner members of the GAIN including universities, non-governmental organizations and other
donors;
• the JSI Madagascar Team; and, most importantly,
• the families and community members in the districts where LINKAGES provided assistance.
We would also like to thank the partners who assisted in this final assessment, many of them mentioned above,
including the survey enumeration team who often worked in difficult conditions. We express our gratitude to all the
mothers, members of women’s groups and other community workers who agreed to participate in the interviews.
We are very grateful to each one of the LINKAGES/Madagascar Team, presently headed by Dr. Priscilla Raoelina
and previously headed by Dr. Voahirana Ravelojoana, for their expertise, dedication, and hard work to achieve the
successes documented in this report. They represent great potential for carrying on this important work in the future
to improve the nutrition of Madagascar’s women and children.
Lastly, we would like to thank members of the LINKAGES/DC team, especially Dr. Nadra Franklin and Ms. Claudia
Gray, as well as others who provided technical input, including Dr. Nancy Keith, for their assistance throughout the
course of LINKAGES’ work in Madagascar.
