ROADSIDE WASTE MANAGEMENT POLICY<br />
Legislative and Corporate requirements<br />
The <strong>Policy</strong> is to be read and implemented in conjunction with <strong>Council</strong>’s other relevant policies, strategies<br />
and documents.<br />
Scope<br />
The <strong>Policy</strong> applies to all residential town and rural properties within the designated kerbside waste and<br />
recycling collection area provided by <strong>Council</strong> (maps attached).<br />
Through the implementation of the <strong>Policy</strong>, <strong>Council</strong> will provide a kerbside waste, garden organics and<br />
recycling collection service to the residential town areas of <strong>Renmark</strong>, Lyrup and <strong>Paringa</strong> consisting of:<br />
(1) 140 litre residual (red lid) bin collected weekly.<br />
(2) 240 litre recycling (yellow lid) bin collected fortnightly.<br />
(3) 240 litre garden organics (green lid) bin collected fortnightly.<br />
Through the implementation of the <strong>Policy</strong>, <strong>Council</strong> will provide a kerbside waste and recycling<br />
collection service to the residential rural areas of <strong>Renmark</strong>, Lyrup and <strong>Paringa</strong> consisting of:<br />
(1) 140 litre residual (red lid) bin collected weekly.<br />
(2) 240 litre recycling (yellow lid) bin collected fortnightly.<br />
All mobile garbage bins will have a serial number linking the bin to the property and will be hot stamped<br />
with education messages and <strong>Council</strong>’s logo.<br />
All separate assessments are entitled to access one set of bins as described above. Variations to this<br />
will be by written consent of <strong>Council</strong> only.<br />
Provision of Additional Bins<br />
Additional bins are to be consistent with the following:<br />
• Residual <strong>Waste</strong> – 140lt, red lid<br />
• Recycling – 240lt, yellow lid<br />
• Garden organics – 240lt, green lid<br />
Residents will have access to additional bins subject to compliance with the following requirements:<br />
• the relevant form is completed by the resident<br />
• a ‘one-off’ fee of $40 is paid for the bin to <strong>Council</strong><br />
• the resident owns the bin<br />
• the annual collection fee will be added to the waste management charge and appear on the<br />
rates notice<br />
• the onus is on the resident to contact <strong>Council</strong> to cease the collection of the additional bin<br />
• if the property is sold the service will cease<br />
• additional residual waste bin applications will be assessed by staff and may not receive automatic<br />
approval
