Each semester over 16,000 students come to UL Lafayette to earn an exceptional education
and each day on campus, educational excellence is achieved. From researchers developing new
technology to students winning first place in an international competition, the journey to
achieve that excellence did not happen overnight. Day by day and month by month, milestones
mark achievements. Collectively these achievements take our University to a higher level.
Throughout this year’s Report on Philanthropy you will read of the achievements and milestones
from departments all across campus. These events would not be possible without the generosity
of our donors who continually give to ensure our University is able to fund programs that allow
our students to excel in their field of study.
State-mandated budget cuts were a big story throughout 2009. Although there was uncertainty
over what the future would hold, a plan was put in place and adjustments were made. We
emerge in 2010 a leaner, stronger University.
Our donors have the unique but powerful opportunity to change the lives of those not just in
Acadiana or Louisiana, but all around the world. Every donation has a far reaching impact
that affects the lives of many individuals. Because of our donors, we can continue to fulfill the
dreams of students and professors, each following their own individual journey to excellence,
while collectively bringing the University to a higher level. With sincere gratitude, we thank
