Collection <strong>2012</strong> Collection <strong>2012</strong><br />

With <strong>2012</strong> collection our company PELL‘S<br />

comes to third decade of existence. It was<br />

founded shortly after political changes in<br />

Czech republic and belongs to oldest and<br />

now also traditional Czech trade marks.<br />

PELL‘S is one of the technological leaders<br />

in cycling industry in Central Europe. This<br />

was also confirmed in the Bike Brno Prestige<br />

competition (that was three times listed<br />

during the international fair Bike Brno). In all<br />

years the international jury selected as the<br />

best Czech product a PELL‘S bike.<br />

Year 2008: 1st place PELL’S Seven X (mtb)<br />

Year 2009: 1st place PELL‘S 6IX (road)<br />

Year 2010: 1st place PELL’S Seven (road)<br />

We focus on the development, research<br />

and application of carbon composites from<br />

the beginning. We have developed number<br />

of custom technology solutions - from<br />

custom carbon fiber tube technology to the<br />

unique rear triangle or BMX specials.<br />

Our first developed and manufactured<br />

frames were handmade carbon specials<br />

for pure racing purposes. After success<br />

of PELL‘S bikes in World Cup race (Giro<br />

d‘Italia), World Championships, Olympic<br />

Games and several Czech Championships,<br />

since 2006, we began to produce a<br />

complete collection of bikes to satisfy a<br />

wider range of cyclists. Our rich experiences<br />

in development and construction of racing<br />

carbon frames, which are the guarantee of<br />

originality, craftsmanship, sense of detail,<br />

proven geometry and tests in the toughest<br />

racing conditions, are reflected in these<br />

collections.<br />

We are proud of international success of<br />

our riders also in this year. For example of<br />

Romana Labounkova‘s sovereign victory<br />

in 4X World Championships in Leogang<br />

and also other of her achievements in BMX<br />

World Cup. Jarda Rygl won two World<br />

Championships in MTBO and also other<br />

riders are successful while testing our bikes<br />

on the race track.<br />

Introducing new <strong>catalogue</strong> is our annual<br />

pleasure. This is the moment when the new<br />

collection begins to live. It‘s a moment of joy,<br />

euphoria, expectations and also result of our<br />

yearlong work. We love cycling and we are<br />

obsessed with perfection. Combining these<br />

two powers led to <strong>2012</strong> collection.<br />

We believe in quality of our bikes, that‘s<br />

why we decided to make a significant step in<br />

our customer care. We offer you now a free<br />

extended three year warranty on the frame<br />

and PELL‘S components. With the new bike<br />

registration system you can also get help in<br />

case of theft of your bike.<br />

vision and implementation<br />

Our roots are already deep enough and it is easy to see how out ideas gradually transform into the final product. A<br />

good example of how the vision comes into reality is the development of a unique PELL‘S Medium Tail rear triangle.<br />

The system of rear suspension via<br />

two carbon foils was for the first time<br />

developed and tested in 2002. The<br />

carbon foil was first introduced to<br />

public in 2003 in Soft-tail system on<br />

XF3 frame (the frame was made from<br />

carbon tubes built into aluminum<br />

pipes).<br />

In 2004 we first introduced PELL’S<br />

Medium Tail system - the system<br />

of rear suspension via two carbon<br />

foils. On the figure is X6 model<br />

supplemented by doublecrown<br />

carbon fork, which was also made<br />

on own development basis.<br />

Tube was first introduced in 2008.<br />

The frame was made by using<br />

the „tube to tube“ method. The<br />

technology Bottom Stiffness Booster<br />

was used for the first time here. This<br />

bike won the first year of the Brno<br />

Bike Prestige competition.<br />

Medium tail system has undergone<br />

further development in 2009. Rear<br />

triangle foils got Carbon dropout<br />

and Carbon post mount. The Seven<br />

frame was enhanced by head tube<br />

1-1/8“ – 1-1/2“ and BB92 crank.<br />

Interlocutory development peak -<br />

an unique system of two hollow foils<br />

that responds to the development<br />

of more efficient disc brakes, stiffer<br />

string wheels, rims and other<br />

components.<br />

We do not focus only on the top models development but all of our model series go<br />

through a gradual evolutionary process. The most popular MTB model series Razzer<br />

uses 4 different frame types that are still being developed but all of them carry common<br />

genes of their predecessors - typical profiling and technologies. Have a look at even<br />

the cheapest Razzer model - used profiling, technologies, post mounts or design that<br />

underlines the quality of grinded joints. Then you can compare it with the cheapest MTB<br />

models of other brands. The difference is noticeable.<br />

Seven29 XC Medium Tail<br />

XC Medium Tail Seven29<br />

The news in <strong>2012</strong> are culmination of years of<br />

Seven frame development. This frame won<br />

number of awards. The main frame triangle with<br />

absolute torsion stiffness is complemented by<br />

RRT rear triangle. The resulting frame provides<br />

the rider with uncompromising transfer of power;<br />

short rear triangle and wheelbase provide the<br />

bike with an amazing maneuverability and<br />

agility; XC racing geometry with a lower center<br />

guarantees stability, adhesion and control of the<br />

bike at all situations. All models are offered with a<br />

100 mm stroke suspension fork or with optional<br />

full-carbon non suspension PELL‘S FC F 29<br />

fork that can mean on technically undemanding<br />

tracks further acceleration due to its weigh<br />

(670 g, e.g. X.0 model with non suspension<br />

fork weights 8,6 kg), side stiffness and ability to<br />

eliminate slight vibrations.<br />

BB92 – extended crank link in the<br />

frame with integrated bearing (Press Fit). Thanks<br />

to this construc-tion we can produce the crank<br />

section wider and thus stiffer as well. The bearing<br />

is better protected and its mounting is easier.<br />

RRT – Reduced Rear Triangle - Short<br />

design of rear triangle (done by deflection of<br />

seat tube) and significantly reduced shape of<br />

rear frame structure are the main contributors<br />

of maximal side stiffness and perfect transfer<br />

of power of rider to forward movement.<br />

Flexible seat stays, which are unlike classic<br />

design „layed down“ under acute angle,<br />

together guarantee ultimate comfort without<br />

energy-loss. This technology fully uses an<br />

option to design carbon composite with<br />

different behaviour in horizontal and vertical<br />

axis.<br />

Tube to tube – the manufacturing<br />

method consists in making precisely tuned<br />

frame segments which are however not built<br />

into prearranged junctions but are compiled into<br />

one corpus with punctually defined procedure<br />

with the help of anisotropic composite with<br />

joint fibres. This is the most demanding way of<br />

fullcarbon frame manufacturing with a high ratio<br />

of handwork.<br />

Full Carbon Sandwich Tube – the technology of<br />

manufacturing individual frame segments. The<br />

inside and outside ply of fibres at individual tubes<br />

is chosen with the regard to high shape stiffness.<br />

Between these plies the inner texture is wedged<br />

where the angles and levels precisely correspond<br />

with the demands of the given frame section. The<br />

result is higher torsion stiffness of the sections<br />

and thus the whole frame.<br />

Head tube 1-1/8“ – 1-1/2“ – the combination of<br />

low weight of classic head set with the stifness of<br />

1,5“ construction. Thanks to this construction the<br />

section of the head tube is stiffer, the bicycle has<br />

better stability in high speeds, steering is more<br />

accurate and the bike is thus easier to control.<br />

Carbon dropout – full carbon dropout reducing<br />

frame weight together with aluminum dropout<br />

matching in color with the overall bicycle design.<br />

Carbon Post Mount – the direct linkage of the<br />

braking caliper to the frame for standard post<br />

mount grip which in an elegant way reduces the<br />

need of other adapters and thus brings weight<br />

reduction and more stiffness.<br />

New frames from <strong>2012</strong> collection are equipped<br />

with modern Post Mounts. XC racing geometry<br />

was revised to use a fork with 100 mm stroke.<br />

Sharper angles and shorter wheelbase provide<br />

the bike with improved maneuverability and<br />

agility. Lower center (in a similar height as the<br />

26“ models) guarantees stability, adhesion and<br />

control of the bike in all situations.<br />

Frames manufactured of triple butted P6<br />

Utralite material tubes.New geometry with<br />

gentle sloping is optimized for using the non<br />

suspension forks.<br />

Newly formed Bi-axial bottom tube increases<br />

strength of stressed part near head tube by its<br />

profilation. Vertical flattening within BB is done<br />

to maximal wide to achieve high efficiency<br />

of transfer of power to forward movement.<br />

This flattening also improves ability to absorb<br />

vibrations.<br />

VFHS (vertical flexible horizontal stiff)<br />

technology combines flat rear fork (foil type)<br />

and specifically molded and butted rear stays<br />

„S-bend“. Compared to 2010 these stays have<br />

markedly lower diameter. This combination<br />

provides rear triangle springing in vertical<br />

direction while keeping maximal side stiffness.<br />

Top tube connection to seat stay is a design<br />

speciality. The top tube is significantly flattened<br />

in direction to seat tube, goes around the seat<br />

tube and smoothly passes to seat stays. The<br />

reason for this solution is not only an original<br />

frame design, but especially improvement of<br />

riding features. „“Closure““ of a seat tube in<br />

significantly extended top tube and bigger pitch<br />

of seat stays makes the frame stiffer in horizontal<br />

axis. On the contrary, the vertical flattening of<br />

the top tube in this area participates in frame<br />

vibration absorption. Precise technical design is<br />

underlined by grinded welds.<br />

Tarpan was eradicated in the 19th century we<br />

managed to cultivate its descendent.<br />

This alpha male easily passes any terrain on<br />

the planet, from the very first moment makes<br />

you feel that it masters anything without<br />

compromise: from Trail riding through All<br />

Mountain to agile Enduro.<br />

Captivating design of a very light and<br />

simultaneously rigid frame is given by exclusive<br />

hydroform shaping of the whole frame set and<br />

perfect link of design and functionality.<br />

Newly developed version of well-established<br />

4bar system provides 135mm of fully active<br />

suspension. The location of rear shock right<br />

in the axis of the seat stay minimizes weight<br />

of the clamp constituted by a featherlight 3D<br />

CNC machined component which is a brilliant<br />

representation of mastered skills.<br />

Thanks to optimal pivot position this frame<br />

maintains excellent springing characteristics<br />

regardless of forces arising from braking and<br />

motion of the chain. Biker´s power is fully<br />

transmitted into forward motion, the bike has<br />

permanently high adhesion which results in<br />

comfort and certainty in control. Sofisticated<br />

geometry also concentrates on optimal rider´s<br />

position in the sharpest maneuvres.<br />

XC Full Suspension F-SIX<br />

The new full suspension carbon frame is<br />

born for victory in any XC race or marathon.<br />

Fully active 108 mm suspension provides<br />

excellent grip and confidence in every<br />

situation. Minimalised front frame triangle with<br />

massive front and central parts guarantee<br />

excellent torsion stiffness and power transfer.<br />

Despite the optically robust design that evokes<br />

uncompromising firmness compared to the<br />

previous F17 model we managed to save 300<br />

g of weight (thanks to Multibonding frame<br />

structure)!<br />

Multibonding frame structure is a combination<br />

of monocoque and tube to tube technology.<br />

The form for head tube, top tube and down<br />

tube is tuned separately and then produced by<br />

monocoque technology. The second part of<br />

the frame, consisting of bottom bracked and<br />

seat post, is also produced separately. Both are<br />

subsequently bond in a single unit.<br />

High Modulus Carbon Tubeset –frame<br />

segments are made from highly rigid carbon<br />

fibres. With the help of profilation we produce<br />

a stiff frame with excellent absorbing ability.<br />

Asymetric Rear Triangle – full<br />

carbon asymetric rear triangle provides<br />

maximal riding comfort and participates in<br />

excellent shock absorption. Asymetric low stay<br />

provides better passing of the chain.<br />

3D Carbon Linkage Arms – 3D shaped carbon<br />

link ensures weight reduction, maximal<br />

stiffness and ideal transfer of power on the<br />

damper.<br />

BB92 – extended crank link in<br />

the frame with integrated bearing (Press<br />

Fit). Thanks to this construction we can<br />

F17 XC Full Suspension<br />

XC Full Suspension F17<br />

Full suspension carbon bikes intended for XC<br />

and marathons with 100mm lift. The frame is<br />

manufactured from highly rigid carbon fibres<br />

(High Modulus). Monocoque construction of the<br />

main triangle with robust front section, carbon<br />

lever and full carbon asymetrical rear triangle<br />

guarantee low weight and excelent rigidity of<br />

the set.<br />

Placing the damper under the top tube<br />

centralizes gravity axis and simplifies bike<br />

control when riding. The damper is influenced<br />

through linkage by carbon lever attached to<br />

the front of the seat tube. The section of the<br />

damper is further reinforced through a stay<br />

eading to the seat tube.<br />

The F17 frame uses the well-established<br />

four-bar construction which is an ideal<br />

compromise between stiffness, weight and<br />

sensibility. All hinges are placed so that the<br />

motion of rear triangle is as linear as possible<br />

and answers to impulses of the terrain and<br />

on the contrary stays resistent to powers<br />

originating from pedalling.<br />

The massive section near the crank set<br />

provides firm support to the main hinge with<br />

the industrial bearing and provides high side<br />

stiffness when pedalling.<br />

The F17 frame uses the well-established fourbar<br />

construction which is an ideal compromise<br />

between stiffness, weight and sensibility. All<br />

hinges are placed so that the motion of rear<br />

triangle is as linear as possible and answers<br />

to impulses of the terrain and on the contrary<br />

stays resistent to powers originating from<br />

pedalling. The massive section near the crank<br />

set provides firm support to the main hinge with<br />

the industrial bearing and provides high side<br />

stiffness when pedalling.<br />

The frame segments are made of highly rigid<br />

carbon fibres. With the help of profilation we<br />

produce a stiff frame with excellent absorbing<br />

ability.<br />

Head Tube 1-1/8“ – 1-1/2“ – combination<br />

of low weight classic head set with the<br />

stiffness of 1,5“ construction. Thanks to this<br />

construction the section of the head tube is<br />

stiffer, the bicycle has better stability in high<br />

speeds, steering is more accurate and the bike<br />

is thus easier to control.<br />

Asymetric Rear Triangle – full carbon<br />

asymetric rear triangle provides maximal riding<br />

comfort and participates in excellent shock<br />

absorption. Asymetric low stay provides better<br />

passing of the chain.<br />

3D Carbon Linkage Arms – 3D shaped carbon<br />

link ensures weight reduction, maximal stiffness<br />

and ideal transfer of power on the damper.<br />

Rear Carbon Post Mount – full carbon post<br />

mount with the direct mount of braking caliper.<br />

The optimal suspension characteristics and<br />

PELL‘S Medium Tail Hollow – example of<br />

masterful work with composite materials<br />

and culmination of own development. This<br />

technology fully exploits virtues of carbon<br />

composites. Aside from existing Softail and<br />

Hardtail categories PELL‘S introduces a new<br />

category of rear suspension. This one combines<br />

the comfort of Softail with the stiffness, simplicity<br />

and minimal weight of Hardtail. Flat foils with<br />

unique shape and profilation enable the rear<br />

triangle to move solely in a vertical direction, in<br />

horizontal direction the rear triangle keeps its<br />

extreme stiffness.<br />

<strong>2012</strong> model Seven Hollow comes with another<br />

major evolutionary step - the unique system of<br />

two hollow foils that respond to the development<br />

of more efficient disc brakes, stiffer string wheels,<br />

rims and other components. Properties of the<br />

bike are shifted into another dimension.<br />

Tube to tube – the manufacturing<br />

method consists in making precisely tuned<br />

frame segments which are however not built<br />

into prearranged junctions but are compiled into<br />

one corpus with punctually defined procedure<br />

with the help of anisotropic composite with<br />

joint fibres. This is the most demanding way of<br />

fullcarbon frame manufacturing with a high ratio<br />

of handwork.<br />

PELL‘S Contrast Technology - Technology<br />

linking extreme side stiffness with unique vibration<br />

absorption. Seemingly unlinkable characteristics<br />

were achieved with using different technologies<br />

for the main triangle which is robustly sized and<br />

provides extreme side stiffness and rear triangle<br />

which through Medium tail technology provides<br />

high rate of comfort without losing performance<br />

Bottom Stiffness Booster –<br />

marked extension of seat tube in crank set<br />

section which participates in side stiffness of<br />

the frame.<br />

Full Carbon Sandwich Tube – the technology<br />

of manufacturing individual frame segments.<br />

The inside and outside ply of fibres at<br />

individual tubes is chosen with the regard to<br />

high shape stiffness. Between these plies the<br />

inner texture is wedged where the angles and<br />

levels precisely correspond with the demands<br />

of the given frame section. The result is higher<br />

torsion stiffness of the sections and thus the<br />

whole frame.<br />

BB92 – extended crank link in the<br />

frame with integrated bearing (Press Fit).<br />

Thanks to this construc-tion we can produce<br />

the crank section wider and thus stiffer as<br />

well. The bearing is better protected and its<br />

mounting is easier.<br />

Carbon dropout – full carbon dropout<br />

reducing frame weight together with aluminum<br />

dropout matching in color with the overall<br />

bicycle design.<br />

Carbon Post Mount – the direct linkage of<br />

the braking caliper to the frame for standard<br />

post mount grip which in an elegant way<br />

reduces the need of other adapters and thus<br />

brings weight reduction and more stiffness.<br />

New frames from <strong>2012</strong> collection attract at first<br />

glance with luxury „carbon“ look that is given<br />

by consistently grinded and puttied welds.<br />

Workmanship quality is underlined by graphic<br />

design that goes over these frame parts.<br />

Elegant Post Mounts are also new. The top tube<br />

connection to seat stay is a design speciality.<br />

The top tube is significantly flattened in direction<br />

to seat tube, goes around the seat tube and<br />

smoothly passes to seat stays. The reason<br />

for this solution is not only an original frame<br />

design, but especially improvement of riding<br />

features. „Closure“ of a seat tube in significantly<br />

extended top tube and bigger pitch of seat<br />

stays makes the frame stiffer in horizontal<br />

axis. On the contrary, the vertical flattening of<br />

the top tube in this area participates in frame<br />

vibration absorption. Precise technical design is<br />

underlined by grinded welds.<br />

(This technology is newly applied to all (including<br />

affordable) Razzer frames from <strong>2012</strong> collection.)<br />

The main triangle is manufactured of P6<br />

Ultralite material with triple butted tubes.<br />

Newly hydroformed Bi-axial bottom tube<br />

increases strength of stressed part near head<br />

tube by its profilation. Vertical flattening within<br />

BB is done to maximal wide to achieve high<br />

efficiency of transfer of power to forward<br />

movement.<br />

VFHS (vertical flexible horizontal stiff)<br />

technology combines flat rear fork (foil type)<br />

and specifically molded and butted rear stays<br />

„S-bend“. Compared to 2010 these stays have<br />

markedly lower diameter. This combination<br />

provides rear triangle springing in vertical<br />

direction while keeping maximal side stiffness.<br />

Head tube 1-1/8“ – 1-1/2“ – set with the<br />

stifness of 1,5“ construction. Thanks to this<br />

construction the section of the head tube is<br />

stiffer, the bicycle has better stability in high<br />

speeds, steering is more accurate and the bike<br />

is thus easier to control.<br />

BB86 – extended crank link in<br />

the frame with integrated bearing (Press<br />

Fit). Thanks to this construc-tion we can<br />

manufacture the crank section wider and thus<br />

levels precisely correspond with the demands<br />

of the given frame section. The result is higher<br />

torsion stiffness of the sections and thus the<br />

whole frame.<br />

Tube to tube – the manufacturing<br />

method consists in making precisely tuned<br />

frame segments which are however not built<br />

into prearranged junctions but are compiled into<br />

one corpus with punctually defined procedure<br />

with the help of anisotropic composite with<br />

joint fibres. This is the most demanding way of<br />

fullcarbon frame manufacturing with a high ratio<br />

If you search for a bike for riding in the city, for<br />

commuting or just for occasional rides without<br />

sport ambitions we prepared STRATUS<br />

models. These bikes are recommended to the<br />

riders prefering comfort and a fully equipped<br />

bicycle. All models have a quality duraluminium<br />

frame from Al 6061, well proven trekking<br />

geometry and use as advanced technologies<br />

as Crono models. All models are from the<br />

beginning equipped with quality SKS mudguards,<br />

a grid and LED front and rear light<br />

allowing to use the light using only one battery<br />

for the period of up to 320 hours (one to two<br />

seasons in a standard mode).<br />

Bi-axial „Rhombus“ down tube increases<br />

through its profilation the stiffness not only in<br />

the stressed part of the head tube. Vertical<br />

flattening near the bottom bracket is made<br />

to maximal extent to reach high efficiency of<br />

power transfer into forward motion.<br />

VFHS (vertical flexible horizontal stiff)<br />

technology combines flat chain stays (foil type)<br />

and specifically molded and butted seat stays<br />

„S-bend“. Compared to 2010 these stays have<br />

markedly lower diameter. This combination<br />

provides rear stay springing in vertical direction<br />

while keeping maximal side stiffness.<br />
