Sport Programme
This programme will offer, outside the curriculum sport participation opportunities based on seasonal
sport.
Identified priorities addressed by project includes:
Lack of resources in schools to deliver coordinated activities
Lack of structured “fun” sporting participation opportunities
Opportunity to offer to a “captive” audience
Kiwisport Objectives Met:
‣ Increased children participating in organised sport
‣ Increased availability and accessibility of sport opportunities
Project / purpose: This programme will offer, schools sport participation opportunities.
Contribution to RPF outcomes:
‣ Provide new organised and accessible opportunities in a period that reduces the barrier of
competition for student time
‣ Increased variety of sport opportunities
‣ Sport being delivered by those with strong knowledge and ability to develop student skills in a
fun and informal manner
Partnership Opportunities:
‣ Organisations with the capability to deliver sport programmes and meet project criteria. (RSO’s,
clubs, commercial orgs, community orgs)
‣ Schools with a desire to create a participation opportunity within their school environment.
Strengthening School and Sport Organisation Partnerships
This programme will strengthen partnerships between schools, regional sport organisations and sports clubs
through providing resources to develop efficient and effective coordination and communication systems.
Identified priorities addressed by this project include;
Lack of coordinated approach providing pathways between students and clubs
Level of support provided by sport organisations in delivering sport in school environment
Unstructured pathways between school sectors
Reduce school leavers fallout rates from sport
Kiwisport Objective Met;

‣ Better developed skills to enable effective participation
