2.6.1 Waterless ® Urinals TOILETS / URINALS
Function & Maintenance.
Functionality
Liquid waste passes
into the fully glazed
trapway through
the debris-catching
strainer.
The unique design of
the trapway slows the
flow of liquid, ensuring
that the sealing liquid
isn’t washed out of the
trapway.
Being less dense than liquid waste, the
sealing liquid maintains its position at
the top of the trapway, thus providing
a barrier to block trapway odors.
Through simple displacement, the
liquid waste then makes its way into
the waste pipe.
Retrofit Advantages
Due to an integral
trapway design, most
wall-hung
retrofit installations
require no rough-in
changes to the
waste pipe.
A universal mounting
bracket will fit onto most urinal
collars in the industry, allowing the
installer to use the existing urinal
collar in many cases.
The large, clean footprint of KOHLER®
waterless urinals minimizes the need
for aesthetic changes (tiling, painting,
etc.) in a retrofit installation.
KOHLER ® Waterless Urinal
Maintenance
As with any plumbing product, routine
maintenance is essential to ensuring
optimal performance and a clean
appearance. With their cartridge-free
design however, KOHLER ® waterless
urinals are significantly easier to maintain
than catridge-based or water-based
urinals. The KOHLER ® Waterless Urinal
Sealing Liquid and KOHLER ® Water
Urinal Cleaner are the only products
required for proper maintenance.
Daily Maintenance
Recommended daily maintenance
requires spraying down the outside
surfaces with the KOHLER ® Waterless
Urinal Cleaner and wiping them clean.
Bimonthly Flushout*
STEP ONE
Remove strainer, pour 5 litres of water
into the trapway to purge the system
of liquid waste and old sealing liquid.
STEP TWO
Pour 25ml of KOHLER ® Waterless
Urinal Cleaner directly into the drain.
Wait 5 minutes.
STEP THREE
Pour 10 litres of water into the trapway
to clear any remaining liquid waste
and help further clean the waste lines.
STEP FOUR
Replenish the urinal with 75ml (or fill 2/3
of the cap) of KOHLER ® Waterless
Urinal Sealing Liquid and return the
strainer to the trapway opening.
*Flushout cycles vary, depending upon
usage volume.
