Eta Chi <strong>Sigma</strong><br />

Las Vegas, Nev.<br />

Eta Chi <strong>Sigma</strong> hosted the First End of Year<br />

Recognition Luncheon at Ricardo’s Mexican Restaurant.<br />

Sorors, Philos, and <strong>Rho</strong>ers gathered to fellowship and<br />

celebrate accompl<strong>is</strong>hments with various awards.<br />

<strong>Rho</strong>er Ke’Ira Dawsey received the <strong>Rho</strong>er of the Year<br />

Award, because she demonstrated strong leadership<br />

over the last year. She’s dependable and honest. She<br />

initiated new ideas for the <strong>Rho</strong>er Club and always<br />

completed any task she took on. She’s very shy, but<br />

she came out of her shell last year. Soon to be a<br />

college freshman, <strong>Rho</strong>er Dawsey has grown into a<br />

mature young woman.<br />

Graduating <strong>Rho</strong>ers were recognized for their<br />

work in the <strong>Rho</strong>er Club. <strong>Rho</strong>ers Amber Scott, Ke’Ira<br />

Dawsey and Krystle Egemba were given Certificates<br />

of Appreciation for their years of dedication and<br />

commitment with the <strong>Rho</strong>er Club.<br />

Soror Shuck received the Leadership Award for her<br />

work and dedication over the last years as the Chapter<br />

Basileus and the Philo Adv<strong>is</strong>or with Eta Chi <strong>Sigma</strong>.<br />

In addition, Soror Shuck served four years as the Las<br />

Vegas Area Coordinator for the Western Region.<br />

Sorors of Eta Chi <strong>Sigma</strong> also had a great time with<br />

awards th<strong>is</strong> year! Soror Williams received the Most<br />

Likely to Attend an Event award and Soror Jackson<br />

received the Most Punctual Award. Soror Springer was<br />

recognized for being Most Unique, Soror House for<br />

Most Athletic and Soror Pollard for being Most Creative.<br />

Soror Thompson was given the Best Personality award<br />

and Soror McConey Best Smile award. It was fun way<br />

to show s<strong>is</strong>terly love for each other!<br />

Eta Xi <strong>Sigma</strong><br />

Oak Lawn, Ill.<br />

S<strong>is</strong>tehood in the Community<br />

The illustrious ladies of Eta Xi <strong>Sigma</strong> Alumnae<br />

Chapter, Undergraduate Sorors, Philo and <strong>Rho</strong>er<br />

affiliates hosted their 10th Annual <strong>Sigma</strong> Round-up<br />

Picnic in conjunction with Operation Big Book Bag.<br />

The event was also attended by over 100 guests<br />

including members of other Greek-lettered sorority<br />

and fraternities, prospective members, sorors’ family<br />

members and friends. Guests enjoyed an afternoon<br />

of games, music and an abundance of good home<br />

cooked soul food and desserts. Eta Xi <strong>Sigma</strong> also<br />

celebrated 16 years of Service, Scholarship, and<br />

S<strong>is</strong>terhood in the Chicago area. Th<strong>is</strong> was truly an event<br />

not to be m<strong>is</strong>sed by sorors who came out to support<br />

the community and civic efforts of the Chapter in<br />

addition to reuniting with each other.<br />

The National Projects and Community Service<br />

Committee presented Operation Big Book Bag in<br />

conjunction with the <strong>Sigma</strong> Round-up Picnic. Sorors<br />

and affiliates donated more than 100 book bags<br />

filled with school supplies appropriate for grades<br />

kindergarten through high school. The young people<br />

in attendance were delighted to receive their book<br />

bags. The youth were entertained with arts and crafts<br />

and other games that made it a fun time for them.<br />

These young people received positive messages from<br />

sorors regarding staying in school and doing their best<br />

in school. It was a family affair wherein the parents<br />

of the youth expressed their appreciation for the<br />

book bag donations from the Eta Xi <strong>Sigma</strong> Alumnae<br />

Chapter. What a way to demonstrate our motto of<br />

“Greater Service, Greater Progress.”<br />

Iota Upsilon <strong>Sigma</strong><br />

DeKalb, Ill.<br />

Moving Forward with <strong>Sigma</strong> <strong>Gamma</strong> <strong>Rho</strong> <strong>Sorority</strong><br />

The dedicated ladies of Iota Upsilon <strong>Sigma</strong> Alumnae<br />

Chapter of DeKalb, Ill., continue to strive for excellence<br />

in the name of <strong>Sigma</strong>. The chapter has been and will<br />

continue to be a source of support for the DeKalb and<br />

Northern Illino<strong>is</strong> University communities. After tragedy<br />

struck NIU in the form of a school shooting, members<br />

of the chapter provided much support and prayer to<br />

one another as well as to Zeta Nu, the undergraduate<br />

chapter on the NIU campus. Despite th<strong>is</strong> tragedy, Iota<br />

Upsilon <strong>Sigma</strong> continued to press forward and serve the<br />

community.
