Service and Scholarship<br />
To celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America,<br />
the Iota <strong>Sigma</strong> <strong>Rho</strong>er Club participated in “Literacy Day<br />
in the Park.” The <strong>Rho</strong>ers incorporated Operation Big Book<br />
Bag by giving out school supplies to the students. The day<br />
ended with lunch and playing in the park.<br />
The graduating <strong>Rho</strong>ers of the Senior Class of 2009<br />
were Briana Barker, Ten<strong>is</strong>ha Berry, Quenesha Boykins,<br />
Leandra Flowers, Kayla Foreman, Ashley Hall, All<strong>is</strong>on<br />
Holland, Ronqu<strong>is</strong>ha Myers, and Deanza Sheridan.<br />
Quenesha Boykins, the last original member of the<br />
Iota Eta <strong>Sigma</strong> <strong>Rho</strong>er Club began in 2001, received a<br />
$75,000 scholarship to Alabama State University in<br />
Montgomery. Ashley Hall also won a track scholarship to<br />
Troy University. Both girls will start school in the fall.<br />

Congratulations are in order for <strong>Sigma</strong> <strong>Sigma</strong> <strong>Rho</strong>er<br />
Ebony Bryant, daughter of Soror L<strong>is</strong>a Bryant, who<br />
graduated from Frederick K. C. Price III Schools with<br />
honors. <strong>Rho</strong>er Bryant received a $1,000 scholarship at<br />
the Young Black Scholars Celebration of Achievement<br />
donated by <strong>Sigma</strong> <strong>Sigma</strong> Alumnae Chapter and a $500.00<br />
scholarship from The Beacon of Light Foundation.<br />
<strong>Rho</strong>er Bryant <strong>is</strong> attending George Mason University.<br />
The <strong>Sigma</strong> <strong>Sigma</strong> <strong>Rho</strong>er Club welcomes the following<br />
four ladies who were inducted into the <strong>Rho</strong>er Club:<br />
Sierra Wesson, daughter of Soror Theresa Wesson; Skye<br />
Bryant, daughter of Soror Tanya Bryant; Kimberlee<br />
Allen and Jennifer Kates. Approximately 15 Sorors and 4<br />
<strong>Rho</strong>ers welcomed their s<strong>is</strong>ters with open arms and gifts.<br />
The <strong>Sigma</strong> <strong>Sigma</strong> <strong>Rho</strong>er club continues to support<br />
community events such as Operation Big Book Bag, the<br />
Los Angeles Food Bank, Los Angeles AIDS walk, the<br />
Youth Symposium, The Hattie McDaniel Breast Cancer<br />
Awareness Campaign and Health Fair and United Negro<br />
College Fund – Walk for Education, helping to continue<br />
our tradition of “Greater Service, Greater Progress.”<br />
