Nu se aventurează în afara bârlogului pe timp de zi decât în cazuri extreme de foame. Altfel, stă ascunsă în vizuina pe care o ia de la bursuc, printr-un vicleșug. Vulpea stropește cu udul ei urât mirositor intrarea în vizuină, iar bursucul cedează propriul adăpost în favoarea unui loc curat. Vulpea se întâlnește cu precădere la deal și câmpie, dat fiind că acolo se gasesc din belșug rozătoare, precum șoarecii. Red Fox Vulpes vulpes Unlike wolves, who prefer to hunt in packs, red foxes are solitary hunters. They very rarely exit their den during daytime, only in cases of extreme hunger. The red fox may use tricks to steal other animals’ homes. The fox uses its scent glands to spray over the entrance, which causes badgers to instantly abandon their home, in favor of a cleaner space.
