By now, most organizations have successfully transitioned to the latest revision of CSA W47.2, which was issued in March 2011. Certification to this revision began April 5th, 2011 and since then applicant companies have been required to comply with the 2011 requirements, while certified companies were given a 15 month transition period to meet the new requirements. The transition period to CSA Standard W47.2-2011 will end on April 3, 2012. All clients currently certified to the 1987 edition must demonstrate compliance to the new requirements of the 2011 edition prior to July 4th, 2012. For those companies not yet transitioned, your CWB Representative has been providing you with feedback on the requirements of the 2011 edition at each of your audits. The new standard is now similar in structure and approach to CSA W47.1. Some of the changes include: • The scope has been changed to allow the standard to be applied to many types of components. It no longer applies just to “structures.” • Some definitions: Category has been replaced by Class, and Performance Level has been replaced by Classification, to match CSA W47.1. • The concept of 3 divisions is being maintained
