The
Lanterman
Act says
that people with developmental
disabilities must have a say in the
way the service system works.
There are many ways you can have a say in how the
service system works. Here are a few ways:
Become A Member of the Regional
Center Board of Directors
The people who are in charge of the regional
centers are called the Board of Directors. The
Lanterman Act says that half of the regional center
Board of Directors must be adults with
developmental disabilities (consumers) and parents
of children with developmental disabilities. The law
says there should be as many consumers as there
are parents on the Board of Directors.
All regional center board members are volunteers
who want to make sure the regional center does a
good job helping people with developmental
disabilities. You can apply to become a board
member.
