Page 6 THE 520 HOISTER Mark Johnson, Conductor Brothers and Sisters, With cooler weather fast approaching many operators have been inquiring about upcoming work that might employ them through the winter months. I have listed some of these projects scheduled in Madison County: US Steel: A reline of the B furnace is scheduled for October, 2010. This work will be preformed by Aker Construction, Bollmeier Crane, and Railworks Inc. SIUE: The new construction of a 75 million dollar science building will start in late October. The General contractor on this job is Williams Brothers Construction from Peoria, IL. Venice Power House: Spirtas Wrecking is scheduled to start the second faze of demolition in December of 2010. This should add 4 additional operators to the job. Lock & Dam 27: The Corp of Engineers has hired Hayward Baker, J. F. Brennan, Tarlton Corporation and Modern Crane to perform about 16 million dollars of work over the next 14 months at Lock 27. I hope this information is helpful to you. Chad Goldschmidt, Guard Dear Brothers and Sisters, As we go into fall, the work load is still looking good, but along with the good comes the bad. Everyday the office is flooded with calls about non-union activity in our territory. These calls are both very helpful and appreciated as we try to give every one of them the attention they deserve. Unfortunately there are more of them than there are of us. We will get to these issues as soon as possible. We try to start with what we think are the most important issues and work our way down. If any of you or anyone you know is not working and would be willing to picket or hand bill, please call the hall. It will pay $10 an hour and overtime will be paid if needed. Also, I would like to remind everyone about the V.O.C. (Volunteer Organizing Committee). If there are any of you interested please call the hall. And again, if anybody has any concerns or questions about something in our territory don’t hesitate to call me. Respectfully, Chad Respectfully, Mark Illinois Department of Employment Security Notice: The Illinois Department of Employment Security will soon be launching a new benefit information system (IBIS) that will be more efficient, secure and improve overall quality. Under this new system any claimant filing for unemployment insurance will be required to provide the following employment information: Names and addresses of all employers within the last 18 months Their first and last day of work with each of these employers The reason they are no longer employed Whether the work was performed in Illinois or another state We will also offer customers the ability to manage their account online. As a result, both the Benefit Payment Explanation and the Statement of Certification will no longer be mailed to our claimants. Statements can be printed online. Please visit www.ides.state.il.us for more information. We will also eliminate the “quick” certification process. Tele-serve and online certification will continue to be available: claimants must answer every question. Claimants will also be assigned a unique claimant ID number to protect personal information. These changes will not affect claimants’ benefits or payment schedule. Please contact IDES at 1-800-244-5631 with any questions.
