LEICA M7. The modern classic
Work more accurately
The legendary Leica cloth focal plane shutter
used on all analog M cameras has been
comprehensively revised for the M7 and
controls exposure times electronically with
almost no noise – indispensable when using
aperture priority. The most frequently
used shutter speeds – 1/60 second
and 1/125 second – even work without
a battery.
Creative flash
When used in conjunction with a specially
equipped flash unit, the M7 can trigger
the flash to coincide with the second
shutter curtain. The advantage of this is
that it gives a more natural image, for
example for very long exposures with a
fill-in flash. In addition to the standard
1/50 second flash sync speed, with
special Metz flash units the M7 can use
a flash synchronization speed of up to
1/1000 second.
Avoid bad exposures
On the LEICA M7, the film speed can either
be set manually or automatically (DX
coding). This rules out annoying bad exposures
caused by incorrect ISO settings.
For exposure compensation in aperture
priority mode, there is an override of
±2 f-stops.
