<strong>Science</strong> by Doing pilot project<br />

<strong>Science</strong> by Doing is an inquiry-based project for lower secondary science. There are three core development<br />

components to the project: pr<strong>of</strong>essional learning approach for secondary science teachers; pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

learning resources and curriculum resources. The curriculum and pr<strong>of</strong>essional learning resources will have a<br />

digital focus. The purpose <strong>of</strong> the project is to assist teachers engage students in an activity-oriented manner<br />

that will activate their interest in science: hence the name <strong>Science</strong> by Doing.<br />

During January 2008, 65 teachers from 35 schools across Australia attended a five day workshop program at<br />

the Shine Dome as part <strong>of</strong> the pilot phase <strong>of</strong> the project. Two curriculum units, Moving together and Rock, paper,<br />
