Stauff Tube Clean System
Stauff Tube Clean - Saves time, saves costs.
The essential tool for all pipe fabricators and hose assemblers involved with:
Hydraulics - Food Processing - Fuel Lines - Chemical Plants etc.
The System
The Stauff Clean System provides a simple and low cost solution for the removal of contaminant
from the inside surfaces of Pipes, Tubes and Hoses. All manner of pipework configurations in the
normal size range of 6 mm to 60 mm can be handled by the Stauff Clean System regardless of
pipe length, type of fittings or components. Change of direction through tees, elbows etc, of upto
90º can be accomodated by the projectiles.
The Projectile
The Stauff Clean System works on the principle of propelling foam pellets or projectiles of varying
density and texture through pipework at very high velocities while maintaining sufficient contact
with the inside surface to remove unwanted contaminant.
The Force
The propelling force for the projectile is produced by standard industrial compressed air (7 bar/100
psi) via a lightweight, pistol-grip launcher. This provides a safe and environmentally freindly tool
that requires little formal expertise to operate and apply.
Perfect Pre-Cleaning Partner
Pipework fabricators will find that the Stauff Clean System provides the perfect partner, as a
pre-cleaning device, to dramatically reduce flushing times when preparing pipework to meet
predetermined cleanliness specifications.
The Process
A variety of projectiles are available to suit the degree and type of contaminant likely to be
experienced and these can be varied during the cleaning process as required. Projectiles can be
visually inspected after use to determine the remaining cleanliness level and the need for further
application. For good housekeeping and safe operation, a mesh projectile collection bag should
be secured to the pipe exit.
Selection of projectiles and attachment nozzles is made simple by the easy reference selection
chart provided in the following pages. The Stauff Clean System is available as separate
components or in a variety of Kit forms comprising various nozzle types, adaptor and launcher, all
contained in a heavy duty carrying case.
Safety note: A mesh collection bag should be secured to the pipe exit to avoid possible
injury to personnel by the projectile exiting at high velocity.
Safety note: Always wear protective safety glasses and ear protection when operating
this device.
with metric sized tube and is designed to fi t over the outside of the tube or pipe being cleaned.
The inside diameter of the nozzle is reduced to match the inside diameter of the tube. The
nozzles are machined from solid bar stock and designed for superior strength.
The set consist of the following metric OD sizes: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 15mm,
16mm, 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, 25mm, 28mm, 30mm, 35mm, 38mm, 42mm, 50mm and 60mm.
J.I.C. Nozzles
Available in a set of 10 nozzles with prefi x (J). The J.I.C. Nozzle is designed specifi cally for use
with J.I.C. and S.A.E. type fittings. The nozzles are machined to accommodate both male and
female confi guration, ensuring a perfect airtight seal every time.
The set consist of the following sizes: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 13mm, 16mm, 19mm, 25mm, 32mm,
38mm and 50mm.
BSP Nozzles
Nozzle Sets
Available in a set of 7 nozzles with prefi x (B). The BSP Nozzle is designed specifi cally for BSP
confi guration fi ttings. The nozzles are machined to accommodate both male and female
confi gurations, ensuring a perfect airtight seal every time.
The set consist of the following sizes: 6mm, 10, 13mm, 16mm, 19mm, 25mm and 32mm.
Safety note: A mesh collection bag should be secured to the pipe exit to avoid possible
injury to personnel by the projectile exiting at high velocity.
Stauff Tube Clean System
System Operating Instructions
Introduction
The Stauff Tube Clean system comprises of a pneumatic launcher and a range of specially designed
nozzles. The launcher uses compressed air to propel a foam projectile through the nozzle and into the
hose, tube or pipe to be cleaned.
The launcher is the part of the system that controls the air supply to propel the projectile from start to
finish of the cleaning job.
The nozzles are specially designed to affect an airtight seal on any hose, tube or pipe with or without end
fittings. It main purpose is to compress the foam projectile allowing it to enter the internal diameter of the
hose, tube or pipe to be cleaned.
The projectile is the part of the system that does the cleaning. The foam projectile is sized to be
approximately 15% larger than the internal diameter of the hose, tube or pipe to be cleaned. The
compression of the projectile against the internal wall cleans the internal surface and expels any loose
contaminants from the end of the hose tube or pipe.
Air Requirements
The Stauff Tube Clean system will operate effectively with an air pressure ranging between 85 PSI and
120 PSI.
Safety Instructions
1 Read and understand this manual before using the Stauff Clean system.
2 Keep this manual with the Stauff Clean system for future reference.
3 Always use safety glasses when operating the system.
4 Do not operate around other people without following the correct safety precautions.
5 Bleed the air pressure from hose before connecting or disconnecting the unit.
6 Do not fire the projectiles at people, animals or objects.
7 If the unit does not operate or as been damaged return to Stauff for service.
8 This is an and should and if the instructions are unclear in any way please contact your
nearest Stauff distributor for assistance.
9 Always provide a Projectile capture bag at the discharge end of the pipe or hose.
Using the Stauff Tube Clean System
Always use safety glasses.
1 Select the correct nozzle for your application using the reference chart supplied. Flip the hinged
retaining ring forward and insert the nozzle using the adaptor ring if needed.
2 Place the selected projectile into the nozzle. Close the retaining ring making sure it engages with
the latch.
3 Connect a suitable air supply to the launcher using the quick release coupler supplied. (Minimum
hose diameter 3/8” ID.)
4 To prevent the possibility of injury always use a projectile catcher or collection bag at the exit end
of the hose, tube or pipe being cleaned.
5 Place the nozzle firmly against the hose tube or pipe to be cleaned. Press the trigger and keep
depressed until the used projectile is discharged from the open end. To ensure top performance
it is important to maintain a firm airtight seal at all times between the launcher and the hose tube
or pipe being cleaned.
6 In the event of operating problems, consult the attached Troubleshooting Chart.
7 To achieve the desired level of cleanliness, the process should be repeated until the end
projectile emerges free of contamination.
