Sabre -SSB Brake Motors
Short Series Brake
1/4 - 5 HP
3 - 25 Ft. Lbs.
The Reliance ® Short Series Brake (SSB)
motor is a revolutionary new design integrating
the industry-proven DODGE ® DC brake
with the Reliance Duty Master ® motor. This
compact, spring-set design is magnetically
released, direct acting, and designed for the
stopping and positive holding of a driven
load.
Insulation
Motor windings are Class F
Centriseal insulated with 100%
epoxy to seal out contamination.
Enclosure
All SSB brake motors are TEFC.
Features
DC Power
Brake coil uses DC power for quiet
operation (no hum) and soft
engagement. DC rectifier is built-in
with surge suppression circuit. DC
coil eliminates the inrush current for
prolonged contactor life.
Service
Short Series brakes operate at lower
temperatures for higher cycle life
between adjustments.
Mounting
SSB brake motors are foot or flange
mounted and can be mounted both
horizontally and vertically. The brake
motors are up to 2-1/2" shorter than
brake motors using C-face mounted
brakes.
Release Lever
An external manual release lever is
furnished for emergency
disengagement when power is off.
Fail-Safe
Stopping and holding torque is
applied if power is interrupted to
provide a safe operating condition.
Adjustment
Brake has a simple visual adjustment
with a feeler gauge.
Quality
Brake motors are built using ISO
9001 quality standards.
UL/CSA/CE
Brake motors are component
recognized by UL and CSA, and are
CE marked.
Connections
Brake leads are internally routed to
the motor conduit box for either
connecting to the motor leads or for
connecting separately. Brake
voltages can be different from the
motor voltage if separately
connected. Connection diagram is on
the motor nameplate.
