Watch out for North Irish Dragoon’s<br />
horsemen in period costume who will also<br />
be entertaining the crowds. Immediately<br />
following the landing, the main parade<br />
will take place, weaving its way through<br />
<strong>Carrickfergus</strong> Town Centre along the route<br />
traditionally followed by William. The parade<br />
will return again at approximately 4pm.<br />

Club’s Annual Regatta<br />

<strong>Carrickfergus</strong> Sailing Club’s Annual Regatta<br />
attracts visiting yachts from all the sailing<br />
clubs in Belfast Lough, Donaghadee Sound<br />
and Larne Lough. A total of 80 to 100 boats<br />
can be seen, making a colourful sight from<br />
the shore. The Regatta is the highlight of the<br />
club’s racing year and is celebrated with music<br />
and dancing in the evening after racing.<br />

World Police & Fire<br />
Games Cycling <strong>Events</strong><br />

Sunday 4 August<br />
<strong>Carrickfergus</strong> <strong>Borough</strong> has been selected as<br />
an official venue for this year’s World Police<br />
and Fire Games to host the Road Cycling<br />
and Time Trial events. From 1 - 10 August<br />
<strong>2013</strong> competitors and their accompanying<br />
supporters from an estimated 70 countries will<br />
come to Northern Ireland to participate in one<br />
of the biggest multi-sport events in the world.<br />
<strong>Carrickfergus</strong> <strong>Borough</strong> will host the Road<br />
Cycling on Saturday 3 August and the Time<br />
Trial on Sunday 4 August. Saturday 3 August<br />
will see the Cycling Road Race take place,<br />
covering laps of the tough 18-mile Kilroot-<br />
Glyn-Gleno-Beltoy circuit, and on Sunday the<br />
town’s Castle will play host to the start of the<br />
Time Trial event which will see riders start at<br />
one minute intervals and cover approximately<br />
12 miles on the A2 towards Larne and back.<br />
Almost 200 cyclists have signed up already,<br />
with more expected come August.<br />

Playday is the national day for play and takes<br />
place on Wednesday 7th August from 11am<br />
to 3pm in Marine Gardens.<br />
This is a great opportunity to enjoy the new<br />
play area at Marine Gardens with a bouncy<br />
castle, face painting, balloon modeling and<br />
games to enjoy at this fun free event.<br />
To celebrate Playday, children, young people<br />
and communities get out and play at<br />
hundreds of community events across the<br />
UK. As well as a celebration, Playday is an<br />
opportunity to campaign on issues affecting<br />
children’s play.<br />
This year, we’re calling on everyone to<br />
celebrate Playday <strong>2013</strong> and show why play<br />
is fundamental to children’s enjoyment of<br />
childhood, and vital to their health, well-being<br />
and development. In light of government cuts<br />
to play services across the country, it is more<br />
crucial than ever that we unite to stand up<br />
for play.<br />
