Meet our Export Team
Welcome to the 1st
issue of Interlock News
for 2009
This newsletter is the first of many new initiatives
to improve the service we provide to you, our
customers.
In May we circulated an ASSA ABLOY customer
satisfaction survey. Thank you to those who
responded! One of the key areas examined in this
survey was communication. We believe that good
communication is an integral part of working
alongside people in other countries as we are all
so different. Time constraints, cultural differences
and language barriers are just a few of the many
diversities of our different countries.
ASSA ABLOY New Zealand recognises that we
have a long history with our export customers.
Our vision is to build on that history; to renew
old friendships and develop new ones. In order
to achieve this, we hope to host a conference for
our export customers in New Zealand in March
2010. This conference will showcase ASSA ABLOY
New Zealand, new products, new people and new
systems. This may be an opportunity for you to
discuss future business ideas and new product
opportunities. We will have more details in the
next issue of the Interlock News.
In the meantime, we encourage you to contact us
if you have any enquiries about the products or
services that we offer. Our expert team of engineers
are always on hand to assist you with any technical
matters you may have. Additionally, we can offer
manufacturing and marketing support that you

Ken Dick - General
Manager
Ken took on the role of General Manager ASSA ABLOY New Zealand in
September 2008. Under his leadership, Ken intends to build ASSA ABLOY New
Zealand’s reputation as a manufacturer of quality door and window security
hardware, increase customer relevance and become an employer of choice.
These intentions also extend to the export market. Ken states; “I am aware
that ASSA ABLOY New Zealand, with the help of the Interlock brand, has built
several highly successful partnerships with key customers in core markets all
around the globe. This is a significant area for us and one that we want to build
on and grow.”

Co-ordinator
Natasha started working at ASSA ABLOY New Zealand Ltd in 2003. During
her time with the company she has worked in various customer services
roles supporting both the domestic and export markets. Natasha’s recent
appointment as Export Co-ordinator has given her a renewed focus on the
export business, where she will concentrate on export customers and their
market needs.
Outside of work, Natasha enjoys listening to music, playing netball and
spending time with her two children (Maya, 10 and Liam, 5).

Customer Service
Heather has been a valued employee at ASSA ABLOY for five and a half years
now, three of which have seen her catering to the needs of our Export Market.
Commenting on her job, Heather says “I enjoy working for ASSA ABLOY and
particularly enjoy the relationships that I have built up with our loyal and
diverse customers”.
We know that our customers utilise our hardware
solutions in a number of successful projects around
the world. As an ongoing feature of Interlock
News, we would like to showcase these projects
and credit you for your accomplishments. There is
also the potential to publish your successes on our
website or in our various other publications. So if
you have recently completed a significant project
using ASSA ABLOY product, we would love to hear
from you.
Samantha Pile - Export
Customer Service
Aside from work, Heather has three children (Chris, 12, Caoimhe, 7 and
Bethany, 3) who keep her on the run. When she does get some free time she
enjoys playing sport, watching movies and reading to relax.
Samantha Pile joined ASSA ABLOY New Zealand approximately 12 months
ago, bringing with her the skills she acquired from her 15 years as a sales
co-ordinator in the office automation industry. Originally from South Africa,
Samantha adds a touch of cultural diversity to our export team. She plays an
integral role in export customer service looking after our Australian customers,
as well as our local export houses.

Fastener
The Aria Venting Wedgeless Fastener is both unique
and innovative. Through the inclusion of opposing
tongues, the fastener allows controlled ventilation
especially in windy conditions. The wedgless design

Fastener
The Aria Wedgeless fastener combines innovation
with simplicity. Its wedgeless design facilitates easy
installation and allows it to be visually unobtrusive, as
its ‘wedge’ is incorporated as a folding flap attached to
the base of the handle. The Aria Wedgeless is available
with a high or low profile. The high profile enhances
ease of operation, whilst the low profile is ideal for
use in by-pass situations. This fastener is suitable for
use with aluminium or uPVC awning and casement
windows.

Endeavour Sliding Door
Lock
For use on door

applications
Lockwood’s Endeavour Range incorporates advanced
security and safety features making this product the
ideal solution for sliding door and some window
applications. With an ergonomic sliding snib and
intuitive upwards motion to lock, the Endeavour has
been designed with ease of operation in mind.
Included in the Endeavour range are internal D
handles, slim pulls and a number of external furniture
and strike options. Made in New Zealand, these are
made to the highest quality and satisfy Australian
requirements for strength and durability. Design cues
have been taken from the popular Aria styling, which
enables continuity of door and window furniture
throughout the home.

Future developments
Interlock and beyond...
Millton Mortice Lock
upgrade
ASSA ABLOY New Zealand are developing a new lock
called the Optimum Mortice Lock. The Optimum
will take the foundation of the Millton lock body to
provide a new and improved multi-locking system (up
to four points of locking) for increased security in the
home.
The Optimum lock will be available with advanced
furniture options including a lock status indicator to
see at a glance if the door is deadlocked, as well as a
snib option for at home security. Furthermore, the
Optimum 4-point is intended to provide improved
water and air seal performance through greater seal
compression.
More comprehensive details on the Optimum Mortice
