Sixth <strong>Grade</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Reading</strong> <strong>Assignment</strong><br />

All incoming sixth graders will be required to read TWO books.<br />

Part 1: All incoming 6 th graders must read Dar and the<br />

Spear Thrower by Marjorie Crowley and complete the fiction book<br />

form. This is the pink form. Be prepared to discuss the novel,<br />

complete an activity, and take a quiz on Dar and the Spear<br />

Thrower.<br />

Students can get a copy of Dar and the Spear-Thrower in the following places:Sign out at<br />

Draper MS Main Office, Barnes & Noble in Mohawk Commons, Amazon.com<br />

Part 2: Choose another fiction or nonfiction novel to read and<br />

complete the corresponding book form for the book. If you choose<br />

to read a nonfiction book, you must complete the gold form. If you<br />

choose to read a fiction book, you must complete the blue form.<br />

Note: If you print these from the District’s website, they will print<br />

in black and white. Please find that we have labeled each form<br />

with its appropriate color.<br />

All assignments will be due to your ELA teacher on Friday,<br />

September 13, 2013.
