Technical Information
To retain our credibility as a publisher and to
assist our clients in getting the results they
deserve from your advertising, we require a
high standard of material.
Accepted files
When sending your advertisement, please
make sure the file is compatible with adobe
Creative Suite software, which includes:
• Adobe Acrobat PDF
• Adobe Photoshop
• Adobe InDesign
Acceptable file formats:
PDF, EPS, JPG or TIF.
PDF Acrobat 1.4: All PDF files must be sent
with fonts embedded and no security settings.
File types we cannot accept:
We cannot accept Microsoft Office documents.
This includes documents created in Microsoft
Word, Excel, Publisher and Powerpoint.
We are able to take text only from Word
documents for use in making up adverts. Any
graphics will need to be provided separately.
Colour and Images
• All colour used must be CMYK
• Spot colours should be converted to their
CMYK equivalents.
• Material created in RGB will undergo a shift
in colour when converted to CMYK
The Bay of Plenty Times cannot accept
responsibility for colour variance under these
circumstances. NB: Black type generated in
RGB will convert to 4 colour process in CMYK,
with undesirable results when printed.
• Avoid use of process black. Black panels
should be 99% black.
• For a richer black, add no more than
20% cyan.
