Recently, Schoeller has been creating surprising effects with various 

printed fabrics. In the chocolate brown schoeller ® -WB-400, a sporty, 

dynamic color gradient glints on the reverse. In the smooth petrol colored 

soft-shell, a virtual melting sheet of ice spreads out on the velvety 

structure of the reverse or a blurred check in orange and red shades 

enhances the softly draping bordeaux of the outer fabric.

CORK SHELL 

The corkshell TM technology from Schoeller makes it possible to 

combine the outstanding properties of the natural product cork with 

those of high-quality functional textiles. For example in the One of a 

kind version with c_change TM or the sophisticated schoeller ® -WB- 400 

with wool backing, corkshell TM offers significantly more enhanced heat 

insulation than conventional soft-shells with the same high breathability 

and outstanding clothing comfort. 

SOLAR + 

Additional heat even at low temperatures is provided by the brand new 

solar+ TM technology. As the textiles equipped with solar+ TM absorb

Schoeller develops a new textile technology that keeps the wearer warm. 

January 2013: The brand new solar+ TM textile technology keeps the wearer pleasantly warm 

even at low temperatures. As textiles finished with solar+ TM intensively absorbs the rays of the 

sun, no matter what their color, the clothes are tangibly warmed. For the first time, at the 

Winter ISPO 2013, Lasse Kjus is presenting Icestar ski jackets in a Schoeller functional fabric 

with solar+ TM . Pioneering work has also been done by Amundsen Sports in its South Pole 

Expedition, exposing the technology to the true forces of nature. 

The principle is a simple one and is inspired by nature. It is based on using the sun’s heat rays. On sunny 

days, reptiles, for example, come out of their hiding places and crawl onto rocks to soak up the sun. Their 

skin absorbs the heat rays, stimulating their metabolism and making them more active.

the knitwear is available in white, pre-treated for printing, as well as printed with existing or

solar+ - Soak Up The Sun 

February 2013: Schoeller develops a new textile finish that helps textiles better 

absorb the sun’s heat rays. Even thin fabrics can provide more warmth and keep 

the wearer comfortably warm. 

The function is based on an example from nature; when on sunny days reptiles come out 

of their hiding places in order to soak up the sun. Their skin efficiently absorbs the heat 

rays and this thermal energy allows the animal to accelerate and react quickly. 

solar+ works in a similar way. Especially on high pressure days and when it is sunny 

and cold, textiles of any colors more efficiently absorb the sun’s heat rays. solar+ 

allows even thin fabrics to provide more warmth. This improves the body’s heat 

management and leads to a higher degree of comfort and performance.

ecorepel ® , the perfect alternative to fluorocarbon textile finishes. 

ecorepel® - environmentally-sound water 

repelling high-tech finish is a positive 

alternative per the Greenpeace Outdoor 

Report. It is free from fluorocarbons, 

biodegradable and complies with bluesign® 

and OEKO-TEX® guidelines. ecorepel® 

shows outstanding abrasion resistance. 

ecorepel® offers high performance water and mud repellence and is based on long, 

biodegradable paraffin chains that wrap themselves as a spiral around the individual 

fibers, filaments or yarns in a very fine film. This reduces surface tension so that water 

droplets and even mud with significantly higher surface tension run off simply. 

ecorepel ® is a wash resistant high-tech finish that does not negatively affect our 

environment, either in its production or in its use. As no fluorocarbons are used, it is 

biodegradable (in accordance with OECD 302 B (80 – 100 %)), passes the Oeko-Tex ® - 

Standard 100 test and complies with bluesign ® . Hence, ecorepel® is recommended as a 

positive alternative to fluorocarbons in textiles in the Greenpeace Outdoor Report. In this 

report, Greenpeace calls on textile manufacturers to replace hazardous production 

chemicals with harmless alternatives. 

What makes ecorepel® the right choice is not only its environmentally friendly aspect, 

but also outstanding its performance. In internal tests, ecorepel® has been compared 

against other textiles finishes (with and without perfluorinated compounds). The results 

are excellent, beside the high performance in water repellence, ecorepel® shows 

outstanding results in regard to abrasion and chafing. 

The possible uses for ecorepel ® are wide-ranging. Applications on various fiber types 

such as wool, cotton and synthetic fibers have already tested successfully. Its 

effectiveness on fabrics like denim, soft-shell and fleece has also been proven.

coldblack ® - Sun Reflector and UV Protector 

coldblack ® from Schoeller Technologies reflects the heat rays of the sun and 

reduces the heating up of textiles. It also offers reliable protection from UV 

rays. coldblack ® technology is especially popular amongst cyclists, runners and 

triathletes, but the usage of the high tech finish is well established in other 

functional clothing, life style and corporate wear. 

Light colored textiles reflect 

both visible and invisible rays 

of sunlight, meaning both heat 

and light. Dark colored textiles 

absorb both types of rays and 

therefore absorb heat. 

coldblack ® reduces this 

absorption of heat rays, 

particularly in the case of 

darker colors, and in all types of textiles. The result is tangibly better heat management. 

Textiles finished with coldblack ® heat up less in all colors compared with material without 

a coldblack ® finish. 

Many textiles worn in the summer or exposed to sunlight offer little protection from 

damaging UV rays. The coldblack ® technology guarantees a minimum UPF 30 protection 

without affecting the look or feel of the product. As a result, textiles with coldblack ® can 

make an effective contribution to protection against harmful UV rays.

sunlight, stay cool to the touch and provide reliable protection from UV rays.



energear ® - Save your Energy 

energear is a Schoeller textile technology that ensures the radiated energy 

from a body is reflected back to it. This can affect the body’s heat management 

and can have a number of positive effects on the human body such as an 

increase in concentration and wellbeing; performance enhancement; prevention 

of premature fatigue and improvement of regeneration, even during sleep. 

All living creatures constantly radiate 

energy in the form of Far Infrared Rays. A 

titanium-mineral matrix especially 

developed for energear, allows the body’s 

own Far Infrared Rays to be reflected back 

to it. This reflection can increase circulation 

and oxygen levels in the blood. The 

additional energy can result in performance 

enhancement and the reduction of 

premature fatigue, improved regeneration, 

shorter warm-ups, and an increase in 

balance and concentration as well as wellbeing. 

Hohenstein examined the influence of clothing on mental performance capacity. Testers 

wearing an energear shirt or an identical “placebo” shirt were subjected to a new test 

process. The test recorded the age-related mean reaction time to visual and audio 

stimuli, as well as the rate of error per test model. The results show that testers wearing 

an energear shirt displayed a shorter reaction time to both visual and audio stimuli 

corresponding to increased information processing. These measurements taken by a 

neutral institute allow the positive effect of energear to be corroborated. 

energear is available at a licensing level and can be applied by textile printing. 

Depending on the blend, the printing paste with energear results in a grey to silvermetallic 

look. Regardless of the substrate, it can be used on the first, second or third 

clothing layer.



NanoSphere ® - top results in terms of oil and water repellency 

NanoSphere ® is a textile finish based on nanotechnology and achieves top 

results in terms of the self-cleaning effect, oil and water repellency, abrasion 

resistance and washing permanence. 

The nanoparticles in the NanoSphere ® finish form a fine 

structure on the surface of the fabric. In contrast to classic, 

smooth textile surfaces, which offer water and dirt particles a 

larger contact surface and therefore allow greater adhesion, 

water and dirt on a NanoSphere ® surface lie only on the 

peaks. For this reason, even such substances as oil or ketchup 

NanoSphere® surface 

run off the NanoSphere ® surface. Any residue can be simply 

washed off with a little water. NanoSphere ® meets the most 

demanding washing and dry cleaning requirements. The finish 

is highly abrasion resistant and the protective function 

remains lastingly active, even when exposed to considerable 

load and after frequent washings. 

The functional finish does not alter the feel, appearance, 

breathability or the elasticity of a material. NanoSphere ® 

Classic surface corresponds with the criteria of the bluesign ® standard, the world's 

most stringent production for Environment, Health and Safety specifications (EHS). 

NanoSphere ® guarantees the highest possible freedom from harmful substances and the 

most economical use of resources in the manufacturing process.
