SYNTHETIC_WORLD is a realistic glimpse into our future based on the idea of technology that is already present<br />

today and will be even more readily available tomorrow. SYNTHETIC body replacements are our future as they get<br />

cheaper and more readily available.<br />

The questions, answers and the unintended consequences of our progress must be understood as we reach that next<br />

level of advancement. And their implications on humanity need to be greatly debated. We are at the age of further<br />

understanding the human weakness, imperfection and our biggest challenge, survival.<br />

A week after the script was complete, THE J. CRAIG VENTER INSTITUTE unveiled the first SELF-REPLICATING<br />

SYNTHETIC BACTERIAL CELL. This groundbreaking research has been in development for 15 years and was<br />

unveiled to the world in May of 2010.<br />

“This idea of Synthetic Humans is nothing new, but I’ve been fascinated with it for some time now. About a week after I<br />

finished the script, the news about the first Synthetic Life broke out and made me realize I wasn’t just doing a film about<br />

something relevant, but something of utmost importance. I was no longer dealing with science fiction, but actual scientific<br />

reality.<br />

Synthetic life will be the conflict of the 21 st Century. In a strange way, Synthetic World is somewhat of an inadvertent<br />

tribute to the brilliant men and women involved in the research.<br />

I don’t think most people see humans ever being replaced by something else on this planet, but I do. It is a scary, but at<br />

the same time a very interesting thought. It definitely puts us in perspective. And of course asks the question, what is the<br />

context of our life, what does it mean to be human? “<br />

PROLOGUE<br />

P<strong>LA</strong>NET EARTH 2213 A.D.<br />

THE <strong>LA</strong>ST GENERATION OF ORGANIC HUMANS HAS BEEN EXTINCT FOR MORE THAN 21<br />

YEARS, AS THE WORLD’S POPU<strong>LA</strong>TION SET AT 2.1 BILLION IS GLOBALLY CONTAINED.<br />

BREAKTHROUGHS IN SYNTHETIC ORGAN AND TISSUE TECHNOLOGY HAVE LED TO A<br />

COMPLETE ORGAN REP<strong>LA</strong>CEMENT IN ALL OF THE LIVING BEINGS.<br />

THE NEW ORDER OF MAN KNOWN AS “1.5” IS IMMUNE TO ALL STRAINS OF VIRUSES AND<br />

BACTERIA.<br />

SYNOPSIS<br />

A six minute epic about three mercenaries who open the “BRIEFCASE OF DEATH.”<br />

E.X. (BRAHM GAL<strong>LA</strong>GHER) and Z.E.D. (HENNING FISCHER) and O.NE.(NOEL DOUG<strong>LA</strong>S<br />

ORPUT) intercept a vintage transport with a special briefcase.<br />

As the CONTENT of the briefcase reveals itself, it becomes clear that the priceless possession is the<br />

last evidence of LIFE and its rightful owner will do anything to get it back.


THE FUTURE HISTORY OF P<strong>LA</strong>NET EARTH<br />

2101 A.D.<br />

The world is a united, inseparable movement. English is the universal language of all of the “States“, previously known as<br />

Countries. The World Government is made up of 33 divisions. Religion is on a drastic decline.<br />

2126 A.D.<br />

Newly evolved virus strains could no longer be contained and start causing infertility in all life forms. To solve “The human<br />

problem“, genetic researchers start to push experiments with full body synthetic organ replacements. The research is backed by<br />

the World government.<br />

Animal and plant shortages, cause the human population to drop to 3.7 billion. Almost all of the species on the planet are wiped<br />

out.<br />

2155 A.D.<br />

The first Synthetic brain is developed by Dr. Otto Newman of United Oxford University of Europa. Based on a radically new<br />

A.I. principle, the discovery completes the transitional process from an organic human to a 1.5. After 29 years of research and<br />

E$3.21 billion the natural human body is no longer necessary. With the increased lifespan in 1.5s the preservation process<br />

begins, as researches continue to develop the 2.0<br />

An effort by those that oppose the transition is made and a small percentage of humans refrain from getting the surgery.<br />

2165 A.D.<br />

The last virus is eradicated from the planet. Humans now are the definition of life left on planet Earth.<br />

2169 A.D.<br />

The first Synthetic human is conceived from scratch by a global effort of scientists. Aegis Kenned, a female, is the first 2.0 with<br />

a projected lifespan of 315 years. Humans are now able to pass on their genetic information again. The world population is<br />

contained at 2.1 billion humans.<br />

Family structure starts to rapidly deteriorate. With the added lifespan humans begin changing their behavior and start<br />

considering longer term goals for society.<br />

Ethical battles between intellectuals are fought over the appearance modifications. To preserve the heritage of the last evolution<br />

of humans, the 2.0s are not able to modify their bodies out of the normal human context for another 100 years.<br />

2193 A.D.<br />

The World Government bans Synthetic Transition Surgeries from 1.0 to 1.5 as the final round of surgeries is completed. The<br />

New Law is put in place immediately to render the operations and the facilities illegal. The last organic humans no longer have a<br />

way out of extinction.<br />

Dr. Hideo Vegas leads a team of five scientists to perform a last minute surgery before his facility is shut down by the World<br />

Army. A young kidnapped boy gets surgically upgraded from 1.0 to 1.5. After obtaining the Heart, Dr. Vegas kills off the<br />

remaining members of the team and vanishes for two decades.<br />

2213 A.D.<br />

Now.
