TAGLINE
Fallen, but not forgotten.
SHORT SYNOPSIS
When two American Scout Snipers fail to quell an insurgent attack on a small Iraqi
village, the mission becomes a rescue operation when one of their own is taken behind
enemy lines.
MEDIUM SYNOPSIS
Two American Scout Snipers are deployed to a small Iraqi village to provide cover for
an American patrol.
When the squad is ambushed by local insurgents and tactical options fail, the snipers
are thrown into the chaos of the fight.
LONG SYNOPSIS
Joshua Bartle and Christopher Grey, two Army Scout Snipers, are tasked with providing
security for a patrol of army reservists. When dispatched into known hostile territory, the
mundane and typically unexciting mission is overshadowed by Grey’s personal
frustration with the military lifestyle.
But, when local insurgents unexpectedly ambush the patrol, Bartle and Grey find
themselves unable suppress the escalating attack. Their mission compromised, the two
snipers are forced into the midst of the firefight.
Joining up with the scattered patrol, Bartle and Grey find themselves isolated and
surrounded on all fronts by a guerrilla army.
When one of their own is shot and abducted, the American soldiers are forced to
withdraw without their fallen comrade.
In order to save him, they find themselves gambling on a reckless rescue operation:
They must venture deep into the insurgent-controlled village, unaware if the solider is
living, or dead.
H.O.G.’s Tooth is a film about the bond and friendships of soldiers, tested under
extraordinary circumstances.

POSITIONING STATEMENT
PRODUCTION NOTES
A film like “H.O.G.’s Tooth” is a first for a number of the filmmakers involved: Most had
never made a action movie, nevertheless, a war film like this.
“H.O.G.’s Tooth” was developed and produced by four graduate students from the
American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles, CA. Written and directed by
Iraq War veteran, Loren Gilley, the script was selected in the first round of submissions
and went into development shortly thereafter. With the help of mentors such as
Gill Dennis, (Walk the Line), the script was worked and re-worked until it became a
tight “shoot-able” story. Producer Emily Moore, doubling as casting director, found four
young actors to portray the American soliders, and locked down the use of Blue Cloud
Movie Ranch in Santa Clarita, to serve as the rural Iraqi village.
Production consisted of an intense 6 day shoot, split between a movie ranch in the
desert hills of Santa Clarita, and a soundstage in downtown Inglewood. Top industry
professionals were on set in order to help make the project come to life.
Gilley frequently found himself being able to settle into a fast-paced rhythm, finding
shots with the cinematographer, Colby Oliver. Encountering an unexpected rain-storm,
production was able to shoot around the weather, and continue their dry desert
aesthetic.
The post-process has been amazing. The editor, Brett W. Bachman, was able to
effortlessly transition into the role of Post-Production Supervisor. With Bachman’s
attention to detail, and other vital skills, the process has gone very smoothly. Final
sound mix was sweetened at Switch Studios right off Venice Beach.
The final product is something that the team and their mentors are very proud of. If not
for every single person involved, the short film would have only been a shell of what it
had shaped up to be.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
“So after nine years in the Army Reserves and a tour in Iraq in 2003, here I am making
movies.”
“I have found that over the years I’ve seen a ton of low budget movies that try to
capture what it means to be a soldier, and to live in a culture that thrives on the ideas of
brotherhood, duty, and valor.”
“It’s an intricate world of friendships and rivalries, as well as fear, exhileration, and
intense sorrow. In my time as a soldier I have felt fear, loss, freedom, and heroism.”
“When you walk away from this film I hope to have given you just a little taste of the U.S.
military in action.”
“This is a dedication to what it means to serve one’s country voluntarilly, and to learn
that it truly is about the man next to you. This is for my brothers and sisters in arms.”
-Loren Gilley, Director
