ABOUT THE FILM
SYNTHETIC_WORLD is a realistic glimpse into our future based on the idea of technology that is already present
today and will be even more readily available tomorrow. SYNTHETIC body replacements are our future as they get
cheaper and more readily available.
The questions, answers and the unintended consequences of our progress must be understood as we reach that next
level of advancement. And their implications on humanity need to be greatly debated. We are at the age of further
understanding the human weakness, imperfection and our biggest challenge, survival.
A week after the script was complete, THE J. CRAIG VENTER INSTITUTE unveiled the first SELF-REPLICATING
SYNTHETIC BACTERIAL CELL. This groundbreaking research has been in development for 15 years and was
unveiled to the world in May of 2010.
“This idea of Synthetic Humans is nothing new, but I’ve been fascinated with it for some time now. About a week after I
finished the script, the news about the first Synthetic Life broke out and made me realize I wasn’t just doing a film about
something relevant, but something of utmost importance. I was no longer dealing with science fiction, but actual scientific
reality.
Synthetic life will be the conflict of the 21 st Century. In a strange way, Synthetic World is somewhat of an inadvertent
tribute to the brilliant men and women involved in the research.
I don’t think most people see humans ever being replaced by something else on this planet, but I do. It is a scary, but at
the same time a very interesting thought. It definitely puts us in perspective. And of course asks the question, what is the
context of our life, what does it mean to be human? “
TECHNOLOGY IS OUR SHARPEST DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD YET AND MUST BE USED WISELY.

BACTERIA.
ONE YEAR LATER, THE FIRST SYNTHETIC HUMAN IS CREATED FROM SCRATCH WITH A
PROJECTED LIFE SPAN OF 315 YEARS. HUMANS 1.5 AND 2.0 ARE NOW THE DOMINANT LIFE
FORM ON PLANET EARTH.
HIDDEN IN THE DARKNESS, IS THE LAST EVIDENE OF ORGANIC LIFE. A PRICELESS
THE FUTURE HISTORY OF PLANET EARTH
2101 A.D.
The world is a united, inseparable movement. English is the universal language of all of the “States“, previously known as
Countries. The World Government is made up of 33 divisions. Religion is on a drastic decline.
2126 A.D.
Newly evolved virus strains could no longer be contained and start causing infertility in all life forms. To solve “The human
problem“, genetic researchers start to push experiments with full body synthetic organ replacements. The research is backed by
the World government.
Animal and plant shortages, cause the human population to drop to 3.7 billion. Almost all of the species on the planet are wiped
out.
2155 A.D.
The first Synthetic brain is developed by Dr. Otto Newman of United Oxford University of Europa. Based on a radically new
A.I. principle, the discovery completes the transitional process from an organic human to a 1.5. After 29 years of research and
E$3.21 billion the natural human body is no longer necessary. With the increased lifespan in 1.5s the preservation process
begins, as researches continue to develop the 2.0
An effort by those that oppose the transition is made and a small percentage of humans refrain from getting the surgery.
2165 A.D.
The last virus is eradicated from the planet. Humans now are the definition of life left on planet Earth.
2169 A.D.
The first Synthetic human is conceived from scratch by a global effort of scientists. Aegis Kenned, a female, is the first 2.0 with
a projected lifespan of 315 years. Humans are now able to pass on their genetic information again. The world population is
contained at 2.1 billion humans.
Family structure starts to rapidly deteriorate. With the added lifespan humans begin changing their behavior and start
considering longer term goals for society.
Ethical battles between intellectuals are fought over the appearance modifications. To preserve the heritage of the last evolution
of humans, the 2.0s are not able to modify their bodies out of the normal human context for another 100 years.
2193 A.D.
The World Government bans Synthetic Transition Surgeries from 1.0 to 1.5 as the final round of surgeries is completed. The
New Law is put in place immediately to render the operations and the facilities illegal. The last organic humans no longer have a
way out of extinction.
Dr. Hideo Vegas leads a team of five scientists to perform a last minute surgery before his facility is shut down by the World
Army. A young kidnapped boy gets surgically upgraded from 1.0 to 1.5. After obtaining the Heart, Dr. Vegas kills off the
remaining members of the team and vanishes for two decades.
2213 A.D.
Now.
