PIMLICO MUNDINGBURRA INVEST BADEN POWELL’S GREAT GREAT GRANDSON<br />
The Founder of Scoung, Lord Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden‐Powell, would have stood and saluted from his<br />
resng place as his Great, Great, Grandson was invested into Pimlico Mundingburra <strong>Scout</strong> <strong>Group</strong> Cub Pack on 7 th<br />
September <strong>2011</strong>.<br />
Nicholas Walton reaffirmed his promise under the <strong>Scout</strong> Sign held by all members present on parade.<br />
The Le Handshake welcomed Nicholas Walton into the Pimlico Mundingburra <strong>Scout</strong><br />
<strong>Group</strong> Cub Pack just as his Great, Great Grandfather would have envisaged it when he<br />
founded The World Wide Movement of <strong>Scout</strong>s.<br />
Nicholas joined Joey <strong>Scout</strong>s with Grovely <strong>Scout</strong> <strong>Group</strong> on February 11 2010 and transferred<br />
to Samford Joey <strong>Scout</strong>s in September 2010. He started linking to cubs with Samford<br />
<strong>Group</strong> but before he could be invested into Cub <strong>Scout</strong>s his family was transferred to Townsville in tropical<br />
North <strong>Queensland</strong>. He completed his linking with the Pimlico Mundingburra Joey <strong>Scout</strong> Mob at the end of August<br />
and now he follows in his Great, Great Grandfather footsteps as he progresses in the <strong>Scout</strong> Movement.<br />
The evening was well aended by members of family, friends and members of Scoung<br />
from around the Region. Nicholas’s Grandfather and Grandmother were there as well to<br />
see their Grandson be invested into Cub <strong>Scout</strong>s.<br />
The ceremony started with Pimlico Mundingburra’s two Joey <strong>Scout</strong> Leaders presenng Nicholas with his Link<br />
Badge and then escorng him to the Cub <strong>Scout</strong> Leader (Judy Nelson, Raksha) for his journey lit by candles at seven<br />
staons represenng: Our Founder BP, The Cub <strong>Scout</strong> Promise, The Cub <strong>Scout</strong> Law, The three finger Salute’ The<br />
Le Handshake, Achievement Badges and The <strong>Scout</strong> Moo, Be Prepared.<br />
The Cub <strong>Scout</strong> circle was then broken at the Northern Point, to allow Nicholas and Raksha to enter where they<br />
passed through the centre and at the other side, lit a candle adorned with the face of BP and the <strong>Scout</strong> Emblem.<br />
Nicholas was then invested into Cub <strong>Scout</strong>s and presented with the<br />
<strong>Scout</strong> Membership Badge and Australian Flag Badge by Raksha. He<br />
was then presented with the <strong>Queensland</strong> Scarf and woggle by the<br />
Assistant <strong>Group</strong> Leader Geoff Sinclair (Kingfisher). The ARC for Cub<br />
<strong>Scout</strong>s Jane Phelps (Kaa) presented Nicholas with the <strong>Scout</strong>s Australia<br />
Badge. He was then presented with<br />
the Region Badge by the Assistant Region<br />
Commissioner aer which he received a<br />
Cub <strong>Scout</strong> bag with note book, pencil,<br />
handkerchief, Cub <strong>Scout</strong> Record book and<br />
a card with the Cub <strong>Scout</strong> Law and Promise.<br />
Nicholas then saluted the pack and the pack returned his salute.<br />
Tradion lives on with Baden‐Powell’s Grand‐daughter, Olivia Isobel Baden Walton, with Husband Ian and<br />
daughter Caroline, a Gumnut Guide, son Nicholas in Cub<br />
<strong>Scout</strong>s and daughter, Isabelle in Brownies with Baden‐<br />
Powell’s portrait on the wall of the <strong>Scout</strong> Den.<br />
When presented with the name tape of the <strong>Group</strong> that nearly wraps all the way<br />
around his arm. Nicholas exclaimed, “Gee I hope mum can sew this on.”<br />
Nicholas was then presented with the<br />
Kennedy Region Badge from the Assistant<br />
RegionCommissioner Arlene<br />
