The Spanish word “Canaleta” means
“chute”, or maybe “small canal” literally.
We found one reference to the term in these
tour guides that suggested it was a term to
describe a route, a shortcut, on the north side,
around the base of the final ascent, as
pictured here,
while the following picture indicates (next
page) that the term with a “THE” refers to
the extra extraordinary steep precipice on the
backside (southwest) of the summit ( see next
page !) Which also certainly qualifies quite
well as a “chute”.
