Commissioners OK contract for Cherry Hill resurfacing
Wayne County commissioners
provided the final link recently
for the county and local communities
to receive federal funds for
the resurfacing of Cherry Hill
Road.
'.Commissioners approved a
Michigan Department of Transportation
contract between
Vjayne County and the cities of
CWW narrows
search for
new director
The chairman of the Conference
of Western Wayne has
received about 65 applications
for CWW's vacant executive
director's position.
That field recently was narrowed
to about 12 people by a
CWW committee.
Daniel Gilmartin resigned in
October to accept a new job as a
lobbyist with the Michigan
Municipal League. Assistant
CWW director Marcia Bianconi
has acted as an interim director
until a new one is chosen by the
CWW.
The director will be responsible
for legislative updates, communicating
the CWW's position
on legislative matters to city,
county, state and federal officials
and work for the CWW
board.
CWW chairman Tom Yack
said a questionnaire was to be
sent to those finalists. Yack
expects interviews to follow
soon.
"Our intent is to screen down
to four, then interview," Yack
told the CWW.
Yack said Friday he hopes to
return to the CWW board in
December with a recommendation.
Yack. who is also Canton
Township supervisor,
Northville supervisor Chris
Johnson and Westland Mayor
Bob Thomas serve on the committee.
"I can't say when we'll come
back (to the CWW members)
with a recommendation," Yack
said.
