peaks frequently present <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Meuse</strong>, often <strong>in</strong> high concentrations: "peak 1";<br />
peaks occasionally present <strong>in</strong> the Rh<strong>in</strong>e <strong>and</strong>/or the <strong>Meuse</strong>, sometimes <strong>in</strong> high<br />

It is recommended that it be established whether the cases of pollution occurr<strong>in</strong>g<br />
sporadically were events unique to 1997-1998 or annually recurr<strong>in</strong>g phenomena; it<br />
should also be established whether the low sampl<strong>in</strong>g frequency <strong>in</strong> 1997-1998<br />
could have resulted <strong>in</strong> occasional cases of pollution (possibly with other<br />
substances) be<strong>in</strong>g missed <strong>in</strong> the periods between sampl<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
