At Marion General Hospital,
there is a dedicated team of
physicians and nurse practitioners
called hospitalists
who provide a special level of care when
it’s needed most. Their purpose is to provide
you with increased access to care
during your hospitalization.
Since hospitalists only see patients in
the hospital, they are more immediately available
to see you and begin coordinating your care with
your entire team of caregivers, including your
primary care physician.
When you are admitted to MGH, your primary
care physician may request that a hospitalist care
for you. The MGH hospitalist program operates
24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the dedicated
team of physicians and nurse practitioners
will work in unison to provide your care.
You may see more than one hospitalist during
your stay, but you can rest assured that their goal
is the same: to provide you with the highest level
of synchronized care. Hospitalists are also available
to admit you to MGH if you do not have a
primary care physician on the hospital’s medical
staff or if you do not have a primary care physician
at all. This ensures your timely care because
you won’t have to wait for another physician to
admit you.
Full Continuum of Care
Hospitalists provide your day-to-day care from
the time that you are admitted to the time that
you leave MGH. They stay in close contact with
your entire team of caregivers, including your
primary care physician, keeping them updated
and informed about your overall condition
and progress.
Because hospitalists are on-site and immediately
available, they provide faster and more
efficient treatment for you, including quicker
