Discontinuation of the pilot project for dematerialisation of National Savings Certificate (NSC) and Kisan Vikas Patra<br />
(KVP) in dematerialised form<br />
Pilot project for dematerialisation of NSC and KVP in dematerialised form has been discontinued by Department of Posts<br />
(DoP). Therefore, no fresh NSC/KVP will be issued in demat form by DoP. Those investors who hold the NSC/KVP in a<br />
dematerialised form in their accounts, may continue to hold the same till its maturity or pre-mature encashment, as may<br />
be applicable. <strong>NSDL</strong> has requested its Participants to inform their clients suitably.<br />
This has been informed to Participants vide Circular No. <strong>NSDL</strong>/POLICY/<strong>2008</strong>/0081 dated November 10, <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
Revised deadline for closure of PAN non-compliant beneficiary accounts with no security balances<br />
<strong>NSDL</strong> had advised its Participants about closure of beneficiary accounts that are frozen due to non compliance with PAN<br />
requirements and having no security balances by November 15, <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
In light of the representation received from Participants, the deadline for closure of such aforesaid accounts has been<br />
extended till November 29, <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
This has been informed to Participants vide Circular No. <strong>NSDL</strong>/POLICY/<strong>2008</strong>/0082 dated November 18, <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
NCFM oriented training programme for Participants<br />
<strong>NSDL</strong> conducts NCFM (NSE’s Certification in Financial Markets - <strong>NSDL</strong>-Depository Operations Module) oriented training<br />
programmes for Participants to facilitate them to appear for the NCFM examination. In November <strong>2008</strong>, such programmes<br />
were conducted in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Pune, Bhopal, Vijaywada, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Kochi<br />
which were attended by 468 persons.<br />
Closure of Accord Capital Markets Limited Participant Operations<br />
Accord Capital Markets Limited (ACML) (DP ID IN302523), a Participant of <strong>NSDL</strong> has informed <strong>NSDL</strong> that it intends to close<br />
down its depository operations.<br />
Clients of ACML are requested to get their securities transferred to the account opened with any other Participant or get<br />
them rematerialized.<br />
Closure of Tata TD Waterhouse Securities Private Limited Participant Operations<br />
<strong>NSDL</strong> has informed all its Participants that pursuant to the closure of Participant operations by Tata TD Waterhouse<br />
Securities Private Limited, its DP ID IN302791 has been deleted from the Depository System.<br />
This has been informed to Participants vide Circular No. <strong>NSDL</strong>/PI/<strong>2008</strong>/2509 dated <strong>December</strong> 2, <strong>2008</strong> .<br />

Investors :<br />
As on November 30, <strong>2008</strong>, there are 95,59,378 Investor<br />
accounts from within the country and abroad. 2,287 clearing<br />
member accounts have been opened to facilitate trading<br />
and settlement of demat shares in the stock exchanges<br />
connected to <strong>NSDL</strong>. Table 1 shows the growth in investor<br />
accounts over a period of three years.<br />
