Wax-bulb actuator<br />

The <strong>TCA</strong> (D355…630mm) can be equipped with a waxbulb<br />

actuator. Neither auxiliary energy nor dedicated<br />

control system are needed.<br />

The actuator position changes according to the<br />

temperature of supply air.<br />

When warm air is supplied at a temperature up<br />

to 18°C, the wax bulb actuator piston moves<br />

progressively until the conical central core is at the<br />

low position. The supply air pattern is vertical compact<br />

jet.<br />

The cycle for movement between extreme positions<br />

takes 10 to 20 minutes.<br />

When cold air is supplied, the conical central cone<br />

is returned back by springs to the upper position for<br />

horizontal radial jet function.<br />

The operation range of the wax-bulb actuator is<br />

between 18°C and 32°C.<br />

No maintenance is required for the wax-bulb actuator.<br />

Compact jet<br />

Radial Jet<br />

Function<br />

Supply air is supplied into the space through cones,<br />

either horizontally along the ceiling (ventilation or<br />

cooling application) or vertically (heating application).<br />

The supply air mixes with the room air around the<br />

diffuser.<br />

The adjustment from the radial jet position to the<br />

compact jet position can be performed either manually<br />

or by using an electric or wax-bulb actuator.<br />

The <strong>TCA</strong> diffuser can be installed flush with a<br />

suspended ceiling or fully exposed in the space.<br />

The diffuser is connected either directly to the duct or<br />

using a PLC plenum or TRI balancing plenum.<br />

When connected directly to ductwork a safety<br />

distance of minimum 3xD upstream of the diffuser<br />

should be maintained.<br />

Adjustment<br />

Part (MSM)<br />

The airflow rate can be adjusted and measured only<br />

when the diffuser is installed.<br />

In order to enable airflow adjustment and<br />

measurement of the airflow rate, it is recommended<br />

that the diffuser be connected to the plenum<br />

equipped with the MSM module.<br />

The supply flow rate is determined by using the<br />

measurement and adjustment module MSM.<br />

Unscrew the conical central core and pass the tubes<br />

and control spindle through the diffuser.<br />

Measure the differential pressure using a manometer.<br />

The flow rate is calculated using the formula below.<br />

Adjust the airflow rate by rotating the control spindle<br />

until the desired setting is achieved.<br />

Lock the damper position with a screw.<br />

Replace the tubes and spindle into the plenum and<br />

blades behind the diffuser with a screwdriver. The<br />

Servicing<br />

Remove the conical central core by gently drawing it<br />

out by the central core.<br />

Clean the parts by wiping them with a damp cloth.<br />

Push the conical central core back into place so that<br />

the springs lock.<br />

Option: with balancing plenum TRI + MSM or PLC<br />

+ MSM<br />

Remove the measurement and adjustment module by<br />

gently pulling the shaft (not the control spindle).<br />

Wipe the parts with a damp cloth, instead of<br />

immersing in water.<br />

Reassemble the measurement and adjustment<br />

module by pushing the shaft back into place until the<br />

module meets the stopper.<br />

Push the diffuser back into place so that the springs<br />

lock.<br />

Vertical throw patterns shown in the diagrams are<br />

based on isothermal air. When heated or chilled jets<br />

are considered, the distance of projection changes<br />

due to air density.<br />

Throw patterns using different input data can be seen<br />

Suggested Specifications<br />

The diffuser shall be made of four cones made of<br />

epoxy-painted steel with a white (RAL 9010) or grey<br />

(RAL 7004) colour.<br />

The diffuser shall be suitable for installation on<br />

exposed ductwork or flush to the ceiling.<br />
