Check out Noro's Taiyo Sock Yarn! This fingering weight
yarn is a blend of cotton, wool, nylon, and silk. It has a
greater amount of nylon than regular Taiyo to add strength to
socks. But it would be fabulous for all kinds of summer items,
from shawls to light garments. Each 100 gram ball has 460
yards and knits up at 7.5 stitches per 4" on size 2 needles.

Come knit Bermuda with us! We will be gathering on Tuesday
afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., starting on June 7.
This Ilga Leja design combines garter stitch, eyelets, and
short rows with a self striping yarn to create a gentle wave
effect that is reminiscent of the Bermuda shore. The pattern
calls for a long self striping yarn in fingering or sport weight.
Noro Taiyo Sock would be a fabulous choice for this pattern.

1. Use elastic thread in your ribbing. Come
into the shop and get some Rainbow
Elastic. You can weave it through a few
rows of your finished ribbing to tighten it
up. Or if you know in advance that you
would like tighter ribbing, you can hold the elastic together
with your yarn and knit your ribbing with it.
2. Go smaller. If you want to combat loose ribbing in the
future, use a smaller needle size when knitting your ribbing.
Most patterns will have you knit ribbing in 2 needles sizes
smaller than the needle you use for the body of your hat. Go
even smaller than that. Try going 1 or 2 needle sizes smaller
than what the pattern calls for on the ribbing.
3. Button it up! Fold over your hat brim and add a button to
it. You could even use a re-attachable button like Jul Pedestal
Buttons. Knitters Mercantile will have these buttons on sale
at the Knitters' Market at Knitters Connection!

the basics of knitting - the knit stitch, the purl stitch, cast on,
bind off, increasing and decreasing and more. The finished

Preventing and Fixing Mistakes: Spend a day learning to
fix and/or prevent mistakes in your knitting. You will become

The Great American Aran Afghan Class: The Great
American Aran Afghan class teaches chart reading, cabling,
bobble-making, and other techniques needed to make the
various squares. This class is offered once a month. You can
come every month or pick one or two months. Cost: $15.00

Skill Building Classes: These one session classes are
designed to build your knitting skills. Want to do a project

Socks: 2 at a Time, Magic Loop: Double pointed needles
got you down? Learn how to make socks using one long
circular needle. If you are intimidated by doing 2 socks at
once, you can still do this class working one sock at a time to
learn the Magic Loop method. This is an intermediate level
class. You must have knitted at least one pair of socks

Spring Mobius Cowl: This cowl is an easy and satisfying
project for a simple, spring cowl. The self-striping yarn and
soft texture makes this cowl a beautiful addition to your
spring wardrobe. The pattern uses a Mobius Cast On which is
easy to learn and a must to create the unique twist in a cowl.

Double Knit Headband: Learn the technique of double
knitting while making a double thick reversible headband

Felted Stocking: These funky and/or traditional stockings
knit quickly. They are knit while chunky wool that will felt.

Great American Aran Afghan: The Great American Afghan
class teaches chart reading, cableing, making bobbles, and

Gnome Babies: These little guys are so cute and quick to
make! They make great gifts for that new grandchild or
