Henry Clays American System Written Description After the War of 1812, Henry Clay proposed the American System. The American System was supported on the American School created by Alexander Hamilton. This plan was made help America flourish and succeed by ensuring a protection against cheap products in the U.S especially by their enemy the British Empire. This idea was envisioned then went through after the War of 1812 when America was feeling extra proud of themselves. Most of these votes came from New York and Pennsylvania. Which John Randolph hated because it went against the Constitution.
Henry Clays American System Significance Henry Clays system included an expansion of The National Bank, federal funding for canals and a high protective tariff.
