Annual Event event
Wish Family Christmas Party
The annual Make-A-Wish Christmas party was held at
RJC with over 400 guests transported to a magical day
of fun & games. The Singapore Police Force rallied over
30 volunteers who rose to every challenge put before
them. Our friends at Nokia and JP Morgan also came
to lend a hand. The school hall in RJC was decorated
with Santa’s grotto (complete with sleigh) games
stalls, colourful high stage, arch balloon decorations
and carnival activities. The children were treated to a
musical performance from the Singapore Police Force
Brass Band Quintet, an exciting dance recital from RJC’s
Chinese Dance Group and Denise Bertrand wowing the
crowd with a fabulous story session.
The party came to a crescendo when Santa arrived
and distributed presents donated by members of the
British Club and movie tickets donated by SAP. It was a
spectacular afternoon and we are grateful to everyone
for their generosity and for bringing immeasurable
happiness to the Wish Children and their families.
Volunteers our Superheroes
Volunteers are the backbone of our Foundation. They project hope, goodness and
incredible service. They put their heart & soul into each wish, making sure that
every wish experience will be magical and special for the Wish Child. Our wishes are
greatly enhanced by the cross-cultural experiences of our volunteers and their varied
professional background. Many of them also give of their time and effort in supporting
the Foundation in our fundraising and awareness building events.
As part of our outreach program to
schools, several student groups have
supported us with fundraising activities.
85 new volunteers were trained in 2006
which is 19% more than the previous
year and more than 50% of them went
on to be trained as wish granters. The
total number of volunteers registered
with the Foundation as at 31 December
was 195.
We celebrated our 1st volunteer
appreciation night on 8 December,
commemorating 4 years of magical wish
granting with over 170 wishes. This was
a remarkable evening for the volunteers
to reminisce the journey we have been
on. Our goal is to encourage long-term
volunteerism among people of all ages,
ethnicities and walks of life.
