Welfare Benefit
Changes
In the last few newsletters we have been trying to keep you
up to date with changes that the government intends to
bring in for people on housing benefit.
In this edition we want to highlight the plan to pay housing benefit
on a monthly basis direct to customers. This will be a big change and
customers will need to have bank accounts and pay by direct debit
to help prevent arrears. Direct debits can be set up by your Eastline
Office or by speaking to your Rent Officer. If you want advice on
setting up a bank account or Direct Debit then please call your local
Eastline and ask to be put through to the Financial Inclusion Team.
Your
rent at
Christmas
If you are up to date with
your rent, you can enjoy
a week off from your
payments this Christmas!
But, if your rent account is
in arrears, you must pay
your rent.
If you are on a monthly
arrangement or paying
monthly Direct Debit or
Standing Order, please note
that you should continue to
make your payment as usual,
as your rent-break week will
already have been calculated.
