6f Climate change
Housing design and improvements to existing stock to make Coventry homes more energy efficient will
have a positive impact on the city's carbon footprint - 42% of the city's carbon emissions come from homes.
We must plan to minimise any potential negative effects of housing growth upon Coventry's environment
including reducing journeys to school, employment and leisure opportunities. New developments should be
designed to cope with the ill-effects of climate change, including hotter temperatures and more extreme
weather events such as storms and flooding.
