<strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> <strong>Co</strong>‐<strong>ordinator</strong><br />

REPORT TO <strong>APO</strong> EDUCATION MANAGER<br />

OVERVIEW: To work with the <strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> team to maintain excellent partnerships<br />

with <strong>APO</strong> musicians & partner schools to deliver and grow the <strong>APO</strong>PS & <strong>Co</strong>nnecting<br />

With Music programmes, to efficiently deliver the <strong>Education</strong> concert ticketing, to<br />

develop and grow the <strong>APO</strong> Young Achievers programme & contribute to the wider <strong>APO</strong><br />

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

1. <strong>Co</strong>‐ordinate and help deliver the <strong>APO</strong>PS school partnership programme across<br />

the year<br />

• Recruit and support <strong>APO</strong> musicians involved mentoring in the schools, including<br />

matching to schools, monitoring project progress and feedback, and delivery quality<br />

• Liaise with <strong>APO</strong> Ensembles involved mentoring in the schools, including their<br />

programme preparation, delivery and development<br />

• Build relationships with the partner schools to enhance each school’s individual<br />

needs and priorities<br />

• Provide excellent customer service to partner schools and <strong>APO</strong> musicians to nurture<br />

and grow their work and relationships<br />

• liaise with bus companies to book transport for <strong>APO</strong>PS schools for their <strong>Education</strong><br />

concert visits<br />

• liaise with <strong>APO</strong> Business Dept to ensure all schools are invoiced appropriately<br />

• Write an annual report on <strong>APO</strong>PS and analyze feedback regularly<br />

• Investigate connections between <strong>APO</strong>PS and other <strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> activities<br />

• Help manage Inside Out and other <strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> projects involving <strong>APO</strong>PS schools<br />

2. Run and Develop the <strong>APO</strong> Young Achievers programme<br />

• Foster a young database and liaise with them to enlist their help with <strong>APO</strong> events,<br />

and to build knowledge of how to help develop their musical potential<br />

• Develop new initiatives to increase the <strong>APO</strong> Young Achievers network and activities<br />

3. Deliver all <strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> concert ticketing<br />

• Process bookings for all <strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> schools concerts<br />

• <strong>Co</strong>ntribute to the development of ticketing processes<br />

• Deliver excellent customer service to schools<br />

• Be there on the day for all <strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> concerts to work front of house ticketing


4. Run and develop the <strong>Co</strong>nnecting With Music programme<br />

• take bookings for the <strong>Co</strong>nnecting With Music programme, and assign <strong>APO</strong> musicians<br />

to school visits<br />

• undertake pre‐concert school visits with <strong>APO</strong> musicians and deliver excellent quality<br />

presentations designed to engage school students in the <strong>Co</strong>nnecting With Music<br />

concerts<br />

• contribute to the structure, programme and script for the two <strong>Co</strong>nnecting With<br />

Music concerts<br />

• build a report on this event<br />

5. <strong>Co</strong>ntribute to wider <strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong><br />

• Support and enhance relationships established by <strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> Manager<br />

• <strong>Co</strong>ntribute to <strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> strategic planning and inter‐organizational connections<br />

• Attend and assist at important <strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> and other <strong>APO</strong> events e.g. Siemens<br />

<strong>Co</strong>nductor Experience, Summer School and Open Days<br />

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERTISE<br />

• Project management and administrative experience with strong organizational skills<br />

• Experience with music performance and schools education<br />

• Event management skills<br />

• Customer service focus and relates well to a diverse range of people<br />

• Excellent level of verbal and written communication skills<br />

• Ability to motivate and support voluntary helpers<br />

• Sound computer skills, able to manage database<br />

• Initiative and an ability to think creatively<br />

• Positive outgoing approach<br />

• Full driver’s licence and access to own car<br />

• Enthusiasm for education, music and young people<br />

• Ability to work flexible hours<br />

WEEKLY HOURS<br />

<strong>APO</strong> <strong>Education</strong> work requires a regular 22.5 hours per/week attendance and work at<br />

<strong>APO</strong> offices
