to approve of the award of the Distinguished Conduct
Medal to the undermentioned non·eommissioned
officers and men for aots of gallantry and devotion to

No. 11435 Lance·Corporal A.' Barr, ht H.L.I.,
for gallant conduct and devotion to duty between
19th and 22nd December, 1914, and subsequently
for assisting in the rescue of a wounded offioer under
a heavy fire. The oll'icer was killed by a seoond
bullet before he oould be placed under oover.
No. 10755 Pte. (Acting.Corporal) R. Black, 1st aL.I.,
for gallantry between 19th and 22nd December, 1914,
in working a bomb mortar under heavy fire. When
ordered to return he remained to assist a wounded
comrade.
No. 9117 Acting-Sergeant J. 'Buohanan, :.!nd aL.l,
for gallant eonduct and ability on 7th November,
1914, when he promptly took oommand, after his
officer had .been wounded, and handled his men in
a. skilful manner. .
