mountain, we finally saw two groups of this most wanted bird, and had great views.<br />

Note: This magnificent and uncommon bird is on of the most spectacular endemics of the Philippines,<br />

only found on the two small islands of Negros and Panay. It is now considered an endangered species.<br />

Note: Based on differences in vocalisations, Morris (1996) and other naturalists have speculated that<br />

there may in fact be two sympatric, very similar species of shortwings in the Philippines. This<br />

intriguing problem is currently under study (Kennedy et al. 2000).<br />
