Fees as an industry solution.
The travel industry continues to evolve and
invent new business models. Carriers are
looking at effective ways to compete and still
offer travelers specialized services. Service
fees may be related to fares but they are
not part of the basic cost of transportation.
ATPCO’s portfolio of Service Fees products
offers a comprehensive suite of tools that can
be used to adopt new business processes
quickly and effectively.
Collecting service fees
With ATPCO, airlines can build the data, employ
a worldwide distribution network, and
capitalize on automated pricing transactions
for service fees. Service fee data is stored
in our systems free of charge (no database
occupancy charge) and there is no cost for
carriers entering and maintaining their own
data. ATPCO can enter Service Fees data for
you; standard data entry charges will apply.
Distributing service fees
Data subscribers can use ATPCO’s Service
Fees products as a central industry source
for comprehensive and current data. Both
change and all-adds subscriptions are available,
and distribution is aligned with our
International Fares subscriptions.
A portfolio of products that
grows with the industry
Service Fees products
Fuel and Insurance Fees and Ticketing Service Fees are the first of many products identified by
the industry as critical competitive tools.
Automated baggage allowance and fee collection for excess baggage can be used to support
a fully automated check-in process that includes collecting excess baggage fees.
The Optional Services solution can be used to improve your ability to compete on price by
automating existing services to reduce costs and allowing customers to tailor their travel experience
by purchasing additional services.
ATPCO’s Branded Fares solution helps you to differentiate your fare programs and mask
fare complexity, thereby providing better product recognition and yield potential.
There are always new demands and fresh opportunities
that reshape the markets and challenge your position.
Imagine an industry solution
that can help you meet these
demands and challenges.
Branded Fares
Branded Fares are defined as
Airline fares organized into commercially recognizable products with
distinct service offerings associated to the brand. Normally multiple products
are available and are related to price and service tiers or levels.
Branded Fares is part of the FareManager Service Fees suite of tools. It is designed to work
by itself or as a complement to Optional Services and is used to group like fares and highlight
service options. Branded Fares was developed in support of a growing business model that
provides customers with choices when purchasing air transportation.
ATPCO’s solution provides you with a central point to create and maintain branding data in
multi-channel distribution, eliminating the need for airlines to work individually with each system
to brand their fares. Using Branded Fares allows you to go beyond the limits of your own Web
site to make your services transparent, thereby offering consumers the ability to purchase the
fares that best fit their needs and creating up-sell opportunities for agents. This can result in increased
bookings and yield potential.
With ATPCO’s Branded Fares you can
• Organize fares into groups or brands
• Name the program and brands
• Identify the tier levels within a brand
• Identify the features associated to a brand
• Provide the ability for customers to shop by brand or features
Branded Fares Search View
The Branded Fares design integrates with Optional Services to make data entry and distribution
more efficient. It includes an extensive Search feature so you can quickly find existing data or
navigate directly to the Results List to create new data.
You can search by program name, brand name, geographic locations, type of passenger, fare
identification, features, or security type data.
Branded Fares (S8 Record) Results List View
The Branded Fares (S8 Record) offers the ability to differentiate by
• Geographic or global areas
• Specific passengers or type of passengers
• Travel dates
• Private and public data distribution needs
• Program and brand names
Brand Definition: Fare Identification Table View
Within a program, you can identify the associated brands and rank them by tiers. Within each
brand, you can use the Fare Identification table to define the fares included in that brand using
the following criteria:
• The source provider of the fare (ATPCO, SITA, Any Source)
• A specific tariff, any public or private tariff, or all tariffs
• A specific fare class or fare family (such as all Y-NR fares)
• Fares having a specific RBD (reservation booking designator)
• A passenger type
• A fare type or grouping of fare types (such as all business class type fares)
• Fares designated as one-way or round-trip
• Fares having a specific routing number
• The price or range amount of the fares to be included
Additionally, Branded Fares is designed to work in combination with Optional Services to define
what services are included in each brand, thus promoting product transparency. For example,
your premium brand may include free baggage allowance, pre-reserved seats, cocktails, and
hot meal service.
Branding of fares exist today on many airlines Web sites and are sometimes defined as fare
families or fare types. With ATPCO’s Branded Fares solution, you will be able to effectively communicate
your service options and fare programs to your customers, ensure consistent results
across all distribution and sales channels, and increase your yield and bookings.
Optional Services
ATPCO’s Optional Services product supports
an important airline pricing strategy: allowing
passengers to view and purchase services
separately. De-bundling your product differentiates
your carrier, providing visibility
for your service and generating significant
revenue.
Using the ATPCO Optional Services solution
can help promote bundled product visibility
and provide customer selectivity and purchasing
capability for à la carte (de-bundled)
service options. It enables you to expand
your selling channels beyond your own Web
site and promote your services worldwide.
Optional Services is an important part of an
integrated industry solution that supports
flight (pre-assigned seats), ticket (access to a
lounge), merchandise (logo items), and farerelated
services (pre-purchase a change for
a non-changeable fare). This tool in ATPCO’s
Service Fees suite assimilates the look and
feel of the new FareManager data collection
tools.
Provisions (S7 Record) Results List View
ATPCO’s Optional Services was designed to make your data entry and distribution more efficient.
This product employs three Service Fees records, Services (S5 Record), Provisions (S7
Record), and Concurrence (S6 Record), plus eight 100-series internal tables.
• Services (S5 Record) uses a sub code and attributes to identify the service and the type
of service (such as flight or ticket). There are two types of sub codes, carrier-defined and
industry-defined. Industry sub codes may have only one definition, but carrier sub codes are
unique by carrier. For example, carriers XX and ZZ can both use sub code ABC and define it
differently, but industry sub code 1AB always has the same definition for all carriers.
The S5 supports
Display options
Concurrence processing
SSIM check with schedule file
Booking method
Messaging (such as SSR code VGML)
Ticketing requirements (EMDA or
EMDS)
• Concurrence (S6 Record) supports
codeshare and interline travel for flightand
fare-related services and is used for
industry sub codes only. It is assumed all
carriers non-concur to another carrier’s
flight-related or fare-related service.
• Provisions (S7 Record) provides the
necessary data elements to create service
options and fees aligned to market
segments and fares. Provisions supports
both private and public distribution and
defines such things as where and for
whom the services apply, purchasing
and refund requirements, and settlement
requirements.
Provisions Flight Service Type Detail View
The data collection tool features
• Comprehensive screen designs
• Practical and logical grouping of data
using structured data elements, similar
to Automated Rules data
• Customized Detail Views for each of the
four service types
• Quality Assurance edits and cross edits
(including across records)
• Extensive search functions
• Distribution control capabilities for private
Ticketing Fees
Ticketing Fees automates the collection of fees that accrue to the validating carrier. You can use
this versatile product to
• pass merchant fees on to customers who choose the convenience of credit cards
• recover costs, such as those associated with airport or call center ticketing
• exempt high-revenue passengers from normal Ticketing Fees via fare basis, ticket designator,
or account code
Sub Code
The sub code indicates the service for which the fee applies. A sub code must be defined before
you can build the data for your credit card or ticketing channel fee. ATPCO maintains a list
of valid sub codes. Subscribers will be given time to implement changes as new sub codes are
added.
Ticketing Fee Conditions
You can specify ticketing fees based on the following conditions:
• Travel and ticketing dates
• Ticket issue location
• Journey locations
• Specific or wildcarded fare basis
• Carrier owner of the fare basis
• Passenger type
• Ticket designator
• Account code
• Bin number
ATPCO offers multiple views so that you can efficiently locate and maintain Ticketing Fee data.
List View
The Record List View is a column-format
display of all sequences and segments for
all sub codes within OB. You can choose to
view all columns, an ATPCO-defined (default)
set of columns, or create and save your own
custom column view. Filters (Sub Code,
Public/Private, and Journey Location search
options) offer you a method to quickly locate
and access the data you need.
Only ATPCO analysts may update the Concurrence Record, so you must instruct ATPCO for
these updates. This data entry service is provided at no cost to you. Instruction templates are
available online for both Concurrence and Service Fee data.
Service Fees History
Service Fees History is the monitoring and analysis tool for the Service Fees products. A centralized,
single source to hold and view historical data that may no longer be available online is
essential for resolving any settlement issues and making effective business solutions.
Monitoring Tool
Customers can download any carrier’s data
effective on a specific date or within a date
range. You may also choose to filter data by
providing selection criteria.
For Fuel and Insurance history, additional
filters are service type code, sector/portion
location, point of sale, and point of ticket.
For instance, you can search for all Fuel and
Insurance fees for carrier XX that apply to
sectors between China and Manila.
For Ticketing Fees history, additional filters
are sub code, public/private, journey locations,
bin number, and point of sale. For instance,
you can search for all Ticketing fees
for carrier XX that apply to sub code FCA
with bin number 123456. Private data will appear
if you are authorized by the data owner.
