And the countdown is on…Only a couple of more weeks until the 22 nd Annual BMCNO British Car
Show.
I remember my first car show with BMCNO. Our 1976 Triumph TR6 was 3 colors (blue, primer, and
rust), the interior was dreadful, wires hanging out, windshield & dash cracked, and all gauges broken.
WE THOUGHT IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!! Not only was it beautiful to us, but we had the time of our
life at that show and everyone since. Moral of the story - it‟s not how perfect your car is but how much
fun it is sharing with other British car enthusiasts. So, if you have a British car that can run, be towed,
or pushed onto the field please register. You will not regret participating.
The board has worked very hard on this show and does have a few surprises in store. Come, participate,
volunteer, share, and have lots of fun!!!!!!!
Also remember the Friday night “Welcome Reception” at the Hampton Inn on Mounes Blvd. from 6:00
p.m. - 9:00 p.m. This is a reception to welcome our out of town guests but has really developed into a
“Pot Luck” get together for all of our club members. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to share.
Last year 100 people participated in this event. Everyone enjoys sharing dinner with each other and
meeting our out of town guests. The food is delicious, conservations lively, and friendships renewed.
Please find time to volunteer a few minutes at the car show.

Message from Rick Huber, our 2012 BMCNO Vice
President, and 2012 British Car Day Chairman.
Greetings fellow British vehicle
enthusiasts (that's cars
and motorcycles)! Our annual
car show is just around the
corner, and this year should
be another great one in the long tradition that
BMCNO has cultivated for the last 21 years. I'll
make one last appeal for three things - participation,
volunteers, and sponsors.
For all of you in the club, this is our big blow out,
once-a-year opportunity to get our cars out of the
garage, on the road, and bring them all together
in the show. If the cars can't make it, come on
out to get together with friends for the camaraderie
we enjoy with this wonderful hobby of ours.
That's a good way to get inspired to get your car
out of the garage.
We currently have 41 pre-registrations so far, so
my appeal is for you club members yet to register,
do it now. You'll find a registration form on page
12 of this publication, or on our web site,
bmcno.org. Click on the 2012 show, and it's the top
left link on that page. Then bring a car to the
show or at least plan on attending either the welcome
reception on Friday night, or the show, or
best of all, both events. We'd love to see you again
on show weekend.
Our show typically receives rave reviews from attendees
and guests. That's primarily because we
have so many great volunteers from the club that
work to make it that way. If you're not already
signed up, another way to participate in the show
is volunteering to work in the show. At this point
we have most of the volunteer slots filled in. You
can see where/when and with whom you're scheduled
to work by looking at the Volunteer list on the
2012 British Car Day "Volunteers" link on the web
site. Go to bmcno.org, click on "2012 Show", then
the "Volunteers" button. If you're not signed up
yet and would like to work, look at the list and let
me know what you'd like to do. Call me at 225-
926-6946 or email mlandrick@gmail.com. If you'd
like to do something different than you're currently
signed up for, let me know that too so I can
make a change to the volunteer listing. We're in
desparate need of a Registration Committee chair
person. If you are good with Access databases and
have many hours free the day/night before and the
day of the show, we really need your help.
The next appeal is for participation in our first
British Car Day sponsor contest. We're trying to
raise more money for Delgado Automotive Department
scholarships, and the best way to do that is
to encourage more people and businesses to sponsor
our show. This year we've started a contest for
you, our BMCNO members to go out and get some
more sponsors. You'll find guidelines for the sponsor
contest and a 2012 British Car Day Sponsors
form beginning on page 7 of this newsletter or on
the web site. When you think of someone to approach
about sponsoring the show, contact me at
225-926-6946 or mlandrick@gmail.com, and I'll
make sure somebody else isn't already approaching
that person/business. Then you're free to put
on your best sales job to get more sponsors, and by
doing that, become eligible to win one of three nice
prizes that will be awarded at the club meeting on
March 27th. We've got the urgency button pushed
for the sponsor contest, since we're looking to have
all the donations in hand by March 15 so we can
promote the sponsors for the show. If you have an
idea and want to get started, it's not too late. Let
me know who you're approaching, and we'll hold
up the promotion stuff to get the last few donations
in hand.
So, let's get those cars ready, registered, and I look
forward to seeing you and your car(s) at the show.

2012 British Heritage Award by Peter Brauen
The British Heritage
award will be given
to the most interesting
overall display at
the British Motoring
Club New Orleans‟s
22 nd Annual British
Car Day.
What does that
mean?
well placed stuffed animal, or better yet,
ten.
Do you have scale models of your car in
more scales than anyone thought existed?
The possibilities are only limited by your imagination,
and the criteria are not set.
The intention is to give this award to the display
that makes one visitor turn to another and say,
“Did you see that car over there?”

There has always been one; now we are giving it
some recognition.
While not mandatory, period dress would
surely be appropriate. (Come on, we know
you have a Kilt or a Morris dancer‟s outfit
somewhere.)
A full set of tools, brochures, posters, period
accessories, fitted luggage, English maps,
etc. would be a plus.
How about an afternoon picnic? (The ladies
of the DBE will even have authentic food to
go with that.)
An interesting display of the car‟s history,
or historical significance could be a winner.
Ever played „dress-up‟ with the car itself?
That could work too.
A lot of attention can be garnered with a

It‟s that time of year to start planning what “wonderful” dish you are going to share with our guests
at the Car Show reception on Friday, March 23 rd . Let‟s pull out the recipe books and tantalize our
guests with exceptional New Orleans cooking. Serving starts at 6:00 P.M., so please try to have you
food at the hotel by 5:30 P.M.
Don’t forget that we need members to bring mouthwatering
appetizers, casseroles, main dishes, and of
course desserts to the Friday Night Reception!!!!!!!!
We want our guest to walk away knowing that better food
could not be bought in local restaurants.

22 nd Annual British Car Day 2012 Sponsor Contest
We would like to increase our show sponsorships this year. We're starting a Show Sponsor Contest and
are challenging you, our members, to get new sponsors. We've attached a Sponsor Contest Guidelines
document that should explain what you need to do to participate, and also a Sponsor Registration Form
and a Show Flyer that you can print and provide to potential sponsors. If you have any questions, please
contact Rick Huber at 225 926 6946 or mlandrick@gmail.com. Like the guidelines say, please contact
Rick before you approach potential sponsors so that he can keep track of who is contacting whom. Our
goal is 25 sponsors for the 2012 show, almost double the number we had in 2011, and the reward will be
three nice prizes to be awarded at the general membership meeting on March 27th. The deadline for getting
checks into Don is March 15, 2012.
Sponsor Contest Guidelines
Class Sponsorships are $50 or more. See Sponsor Registration Form for details.
The club will have a contest for the number of sponsors brought in by club members.
The member who brings in the most sponsors (multiples of $50) will win First Prize. This will be a nice,
unique gift from the club.
All club members are eligible to donate $50 or more, sponsor classes, and enter the contest. All club members
(except Board members) who bring in non-member sponsors will have their names put into a drawing
for additional prizes. Each member will have their name put in the hat as many times as the number
of sponsors (multiples of $50) they bring in, i.e. bring in one $50 sponsor and your name goes in the hat
once, bring in five $50 sponsors (or one $250 sponsor) and your name goes in the hat five times.
If you‟d like to approach a potential sponsor, please call or email Rick Huber (225 926 6946 or mlandrick@gmail.com)
to put your name on the potential sponsor list. This will avoid more than one member
soliciting the same potential sponsor. Please also ask for other donations of door prizes or goodie bag
items.
Sponsors may request a particular class and these will be assigned on a first come basis as best as can be
done. Classes may have more than one sponsor.
The deadline to have sponsor checks in to the BMCNO Treasurer is March 15, 2012.
