Church ribfest is Saturday
Our Lady of Grace Catholic church is
having a first-ever ribfest starting at 5
p.m. Saturday on church grounds. 45295
W. Honeycutt.
A full slab of ribs with sides is $18;
half-slab $10; child’s portion, $5.
There will be music and dancing.
All proceeds go to the church’s
building fund.

There’s an app for that
Amtrak has a mobile phone
application that can tell users when
trains will arrive at the Maricopa station.
Mobile users can download the
app from Amtrak.com or find the app
directly at m.amtrak.com.
Once on the app, select Train Status,

under Station, select Maricopa, then
click on Train No. and enter 2 for the
eastbound train or 1 for the westbound
train, then click Done.
If the train status is unavailable, it
has either arrived for that day or is not
scheduled for that day. Click on Arrival
Date and select the date you are inquiring
about and then click Check Status.
Drivers can also receive information
on the arrival time for the train by calling
800-872-7245 or visiting Amtrak.com.
Girl Scouts give cookie money
to the dogs
Girl Scout Troop 2216, along with
troop leader Elizabeth Huskey, met in
May with Kimberly Diedrich from Pet
Social Worker to work on a Community
Take Action Project with part of the
troop’s cookie money proceeds.
The Scouts prepared goodie doggie
baggies to give new rescue dogs as the
animals are brought in to be fostered.

City Hall hours change July 1
The city of Maricopa will begin a oneyear
pilot program of a four-day, 10-hour
schedule at City Hall July 1.
The new City Hall hours will be 7 a.m.
to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays,
closed on Fridays.
Essential services such as police, fire,
library and some public works staff will
still work Fridays and weekends.
The extended morning and evening
times will assist residents who need to
visit City Hall either before or after work.
Assistance available for
overdue utility bills
Salvation Army, Maricopa Extension
Division may be able to assist Maricopa
residents with overdue Electrical District
No. 3 or Southwest Gas bills.
Additionally, emergency assistance
for gasoline, prescription drugs or
clothing may be available.
