3.2. Study Design<br />
A cross-sectional descriptive study was undertaken to establish the prevalence and intensity of<br />
soil-transmitted helminths infections, malnutrition and anaemiaamong primary school children<br />
in Same district.<br />
3.3. Study population<br />
The study population was the primary school children in Same district who were present<br />
during the study period.<br />
3.4. Sample size estimation<br />
In this study, the sampling units were pupils of selected schools. In estimating the sample size,<br />
I used a 61% prevalence of hookworm, obtained in Tanga by Guyatt and his fellows (Guyatt et<br />
al, 2001). The minimum number of study subjects was estimated by using minimum sample<br />
size determination technique.<br />
