AMAÇ VE KAPSAM
AIMS AND SCOPE
Hacettepe T›p Dergisi, 1961 y›l›nda yay›n hayat›na bafllam›fl
olup Hacettepe Üniversitesi T›p Fakültesi Dekanl›¤›n›n resmi ve süreli
bilimsel yay›n› olarak Bilimsel T›p Yay›nevi taraf›ndan Mart, Haziran,
Eylül ve Aral›k aylar›nda olmak üzere y›lda 4 say› yay›mlanmaktad›r.
Dergide yay›mlanan makalelere 2004 y›l›ndan itibaren
elektronik ortamda “online” olarak da ulafl›labilmektedir. Hacettepe
T›p Dergisi’nde yay›mlanacak yaz›lar›n seçiminde hakem de-
¤erlendirme sistemi kullan›lmaktad›r. Derginin resmi yay›n dili
Türkçe ve ‹ngilizce’dir.
Derginin amac›; t›bb›n de¤iflik disiplinlerinde çal›flan hekimlere,
klinik ve temel t›p bilimlerinde yeni geliflmeler, tart›flmal› konular,
yeni tan› ve tedavi yöntemleri gibi güncel t›p bilgilerini sunmakt›r.
Bu amaçla, yaflam bilimleri alanlar›ndaki, klinik ve pratik uygulamalara
yönelik, a¤›rl›kl› olarak derleme türünde yaz›lar olmak üzere,
araflt›rma, olgu sunumu, k›sa rapor, editöre mektup türünde
yaz›lar› yay›nlar.
Derginin hedef okuyucu kitlesi baflta T›p hekimleridir.

Hacettepe Medical Journal is an official and periodical journal
of the medical faculty and has been published quarterly in March,
June, September, and December since 1961. All articles published
in the journal have been available online since 2004. A peer
reviewed system is used in evaluation of the manuscripts submitted
to the Hacettepe Medical Journal. The official languages of
the journal are Turkish and English.
The aim of the journal is to keep the readers upto date in, new
diagnostic methods, new developments, new treatment strategies,
popular medical topics, in preclinical and clinical medicine. In
accordance with this goal, manuscripts in the format of original
research, review, case report, articles about clinical and practical
applications and editorials, short report and letters to the editor
are published in the journal.
The target reader population of Hacettepe Medical Journal are
medical doctors.

Hacettepe Medical Journal is distributed to members of the
medical faculty free of charge. Content, abstract and full text of

1. Hacettepe T›p Dergisi, Hacettepe Üniversitesi T›p Fakültesi Dekanl›¤›n›n süreli yay›n›
olup Bilimsel T›p Yay›nevi taraf›ndan y›lda 4 say› olarak yay›mlanmaktad›r.
2. Derginin amac›; t›bb›n de¤iflik disiplinlerinde çal›flan hekimlere, klinik ve temel
t›p bilimlerinde yeni geliflmeler, tart›flmal› konular, yeni tan› ve tedavi yöntemleri
gibi güncel t›p bilgilerini sunmakt›r.
3. Derginin resmi yay›n dili Türkçe ve ‹ngilizce’dir. Türkçe yaz›larda Türk Dil Kurumunun
Türkçe Sözlü¤ü ve Yaz›m K›lavuzu temel al›nmal›d›r (http://tdk.org.tr).
Anatomik terimlerin ve mikroorganizma adlar›n›n Latinceleri kullan›lmal›d›r.
Günlük t›p diline yerleflmifl terimler ise okunduklar› gibi Türkçe yaz›m kurallar›na
uygun olarak yaz›lmal›d›r. ‹ngilizce veya baflka bir yabanc› dildeki flekli ile
yaz›lan terimler t›rnak içinde belirtilmelidir.
4. Yay›nlanmas› amac›yla gönderilen yaz›lar Uluslararas› T›p Dergi Editörleri Komitesi
(ICMJE) taraf›ndan oluflturulan ve güncellenen, Biyomedikal Dergilere
Gönderilen Makalelerde Bulunmas› Gereken Standartlara (Uniform Requirements
for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals Editors) uygun olarak
haz›rlanm›fl olmal›d›r (http://www.ulakbim.gov.tr/cabim/vt/uvt/ tip/).
5. Hacettepe T›p Dergisi Helsinki Bildirgesi etik standartlar›na (http://www.wma.
net/en/30publications/10policies/b3/index.html) uymay› prensip olarak kabul
eder. Bu nedenle insanlar üzerinde yap›lan tüm çal›flmalarda, yaz›n›n Gereç ve
Yöntem k›sm›nda etik kurul onay› al›nd›¤› belirtilmelidir. Çal›flman›n yap›ld›¤› hasta
veya gönüllüler bilgilendirilerek yaz›l› onaylar› al›nmal› ve makalenin Gereç ve
Yöntem k›sm›nda yaz›lmal›d›r. Hayvanlar üzerinde yap›lan çal›flmalarda, yaz›n›n
Gereç ve Yöntem k›sm›nda çal›flman›n Laboratuvar Hayvanlar›n›n Bak›m› ve Kullan›m›
K›lavuzu (www.nap.edu/catalog/5140.html) prensipleri do¤rultusunda
yap›ld›¤› ve ilgili kurumdan etik kurul onay› al›nd›¤› belirtilmelidir. Gerek görülürse
editör taraf›ndan etik kurul onay›n›n bir örne¤i yazarlardan istenebilir.
6. Editör yay›n koflullar›na uymayan yaz›lar›; düzeltmek üzere yazar›na geri gönderme,
biçimce düzenleme veya reddetme yetkisine sahiptir. Yaz›lar›n› geri
çekmek isteyen yazarlar bunu yaz›l› olarak editöre bildirmek durumundad›r.
Editör görülen lüzum halinde baz› makaleler hakk›nda yay›n yürütme kurulunun
görüflüne baflvurur.
7. Gönderilen yaz›lar, editör ve yard›mc› editörler ile en az bir dan›flman (hakem)
taraf›ndan incelenir. Editör ve yard›mc› editörler gerek gördü¤ünde makaleyi
di¤er bir dan›flmana da gönderebilir. Dan›flman belirleme yetkisi tamamen editör
ve yard›mc› editörlere aittir. Dan›flmanlar belirlenirken derginin yay›n kurulundan
isimler seçilebilece¤i gibi yaz›n›n konusuna göre ihtiyaç duyuldu¤unda
yurt içinden veya yurt d›fl›ndan ba¤›ms›z dan›flmanlar da belirlenebilir. Yaz›lar›n
kabulüne editör karar verir.
8. Yaz›lar›n gelifl tarihleri ve kabul edilifl tarihleri makalenin yay›mland›¤› say›da
belirtilir.
9. Makaleler online makale de¤erlendirme sistemine kaydedilmelidir

10. Yaz›lar, “Arial” karakterinde 1.5 sat›r aral›kl› olarak ve 12 punto kullan›larak yaz›lmal›,
sayfan›n her iki kenar›nda 2 cm boflluk b›rak›lmal›d›r. Yay›n metni IBM
uyumlu bilgisayar program›nda (Microsoft Windows, en az Word 98) haz›rlanm›fl
olmal›d›r. Sayfalara bafll›k sayfas›ndan bafllayarak s›rayla numara verilmelidir.
Numaralar sayfan›n sa¤ alt köflesinde yer almal›d›r. Yaz›n›n gönderildi¤i ana
metin dosyas›n›n içinde yazar isimleri ve kurumlara ait bilgi yer almamal›d›r.
11. Yaz›n›n daha önce bir dergide yay›nlanmam›fl veya yay›nlanmak üzere gönderilmemifl
oldu¤unu ve gönderilen yaz›ya tüm yazarlar›n onay verdi¤ini bildiren,
makaledeki isim s›ras›na uygun biçimde yazarlarca imzalanm›fl bir üst yaz› (yazar
onay formu) makalenin kayd› s›ras›nda online de¤erlendirme sistemine
yüklenebilir. ‹mzal› üst yaz› ayr›ca Prof. Dr. U¤ur Özçelik, Hacettepe T›p Dergisi

kar çat›flmas› alan› varsa bildirilmelidir.

12. Teknik yard›m, yazma ve düzeltme yard›m›, veri toplama, analiz vs. gibi konularda
yaz›lara katk›s› olan; ancak yazarl›k kriterlerini tam karfl›lamayan kiflilerin
tümü teflekkür bölümünde belirtilmelidir. Söz konusu yaz›da çal›flmaya yap›lan
tüm mali katk›lar ve varsa sponsoru da belirtilmelidir. Sponsorun deste¤i sadece
finansal destek boyutunda ise “teflekkür” k›sm›nda belirtilmelidir. Sponsor
kurum, yöntem, istatistik de¤erlendirme veya makale yaz›m›nda yer alm›flsa,
bu katk› “gereç ve yöntem” bölümünde belirtilmelidir. Yazarlar ya da çal›flma
sonuçlar› ile ilgili herhangi bir ç›kar çat›flmas› yoksa bu durum da bildirilmelidir.
13. Daha önce sunulmufl bildiriler yer ve tarih belirtmek kofluluyla yay›mlanabilir.
14. Makalede kullan›lan k›saltmalar uluslararas› kabul edilen flekilde olmal›, ilk kullan›ld›klar›
yerde aç›k olarak yaz›lmal› ve parantez içinde k›salt›lm›fl flekli gösterilmelidir.
Tüm metin boyunca k›salt›lm›fl flekil kullan›lmal›d›r. Uluslararas› kullan›lan
k›saltmalar için “Bilimsel Bir Makale Nas›l Yaz›l›r ve Yay›mlan›r
(http://journals.tubitak.gov.tr/kitap/maknasyaz/)” kayna¤›na baflvurulabilir.
15. Yaz›n›n bafll›k sayfas›nda, yaz›n›n Türkçe ve ‹ngilizce bafll›¤›, boflluklar da dahil
40 karakteri aflmayacak flekilde Türkçe ve ‹ngilizce k›sa bafll›¤›, yazarlar›n aç›k
ad, soyadlar›, akademik ünvanlar› (MD ve PhD belirtilerek) ile birlikte yaz›lmal›d›r.
Çal›flmalar›n yap›ld›¤› klinik, anabilim dal›/bilim dal›, enstitü ve kuruluflun
ad› belirtilmelidir. Bafll›k sayfas›nda yaz›flmalar›n yap›laca¤› kiflinin ad›, yaz›flma
adresi, elektronik posta adresi, telefon ve faks numaralar› yer almal›d›r. Çal›flma,
daha önce bir kongre ya da sempozyumda bildiri olarak sunulmufl ise bu
sayfada belirtilmelidir.
16. Editöre mektup d›fl›ndaki tüm yaz› türlerinde Türkçe ve ‹ngilizce özet yer almal›d›r.
Özet bölümünde k›saltmalardan mümkün oldu¤unca kaç›n›lmal›d›r. Kaynak,
flekil, tablo ve at›f yer almamal›d›r.
17. Anahtar kelimeler Index Medicus Medical Subject Headings (MeSH)’e uygun
olacak flekilde en az iki en fazla befl adet olmal›d›r. Anahtar kelimeler için
www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html adresine baflvurulmal›d›r.
18. ARAfiTIRMA YAZILARI
Araflt›rma yaz›lar›; Türkçe bafll›k, Türkçe bölümlendirilmifl özet (en fazla 300
kelime olacak flekilde Girifl, Gereç ve Yöntem, Bulgular ve Sonuç bafll›klar› alt›nda
yaz›lmal›d›r), Türkçe anahtar kelimeler, ‹ngilizce bafll›k, ‹ngilizce bölümlendirilmifl
özet (en fazla 300 kelime olacak flekilde “Objective, Materials and
Methods, Results, Conclusion” bafll›klar› alt›nda yaz›lmal›d›r), ‹ngilizce anahtar
kelimeler, Girifl, Gereç ve Yöntem, Bulgular, Tart›flma, Teflekkür (varsa) ve Kaynaklar
k›s›mlar›ndan oluflmal›d›r. Makale bölümlerinin her biri yeni sayfada
bafllamal›d›r. Araflt›rma yaz›lar›n›n 5000 kelimenin üzerinde ve kaynaklar›n›n
da 40’tan fazla olmas› önerilmemektedir.
19. DERLEMELER
Derleme türü makaleler; Türkçe bafll›k, Türkçe özet, Türkçe anahtar kelimeler,
‹ngilizce bafll›k, ‹ngilizce özet, ‹ngilizce anahtar kelimeleri içermelidir. Derleme
türü makalelerde özet tek paragraf olacak flekilde haz›rlanmal› ve 300 kelime
ile s›n›rl› olmal›d›r. Bölümlendirilmifl özet haz›rlanmas›na gerek yoktur. Kaynak
say›s› mümkünse 40’›n üzerinde olmamal›d›r.
20. OLGU SUNUMLARI
Olgu sunumlar›nda; Türkçe bafll›k, Türkçe özet, Türkçe anahtar kelimeler, ‹ngilizce
bafll›k, ‹ngilizce özet, ‹ngilizce anahtar kelimeler, Girifl, Olgu Sunumu,
Tart›flma ve Kaynaklar yer almal›d›r. Olgu sunumlar›n›n Girifl ve Tart›flma k›s›mlar›
k›sa-öz olmal›, Özet k›sm› tek paragraf olacak flekilde haz›rlanmal›d›r. Bölümlendirilmifl
özet haz›rlanmas›na gerek yoktur. Olgu sunumlar› 1500 kelimeyi
ve kaynak say›s› 20’yi geçmemelidir.
21. KISA RAPOR
K›sa rapor, ilgili alanda önemli katk›s› olabilecek araflt›rma verilerini k›sa ve öz
olacak flekilde içermelidir. K›sa raporun maksimum uzunlu¤u 1500 kelime olmal›d›r.
K›sa raporlarda Türkçe ve ‹ngilizce bafll›k, tek paragraf olacak flekilde
Türkçe ve ‹ngilizce özet, Türkçe ve ‹ngilizce olmak üzere 2-5 adet anahtar kelime
yer almal›d›r. K›sa raporlarda en fazla iki tablo ve bir flekil/grafik/resim
bulunmal›d›r. Bölümlendirilmifl özet haz›rlanmas›na gerek yoktur. Kaynak say›-
s› 10 ile s›n›rl› olmal›d›r.
22. ED‹TÖRE MEKTUP
Editöre mektup bölümü, dergide daha önce yay›nlanm›fl yaz›lara elefltiri getirmek
ve katk› sa¤lamak amac›yla oluflturuldu¤undan k›sa-öz olmal›, 1000 kelimeyi
geçmemeli, özet içermemeli ve kaynaklar› 10 ile s›n›rl› olmal›d›r.
23. TABLOLAR, fiEK‹L, GRAF‹K ve RES‹MLER
Tablolar, flekil, grafik ve resimler metin içinde at›fta bulunulan s›raya göre arabik
rakamlar ile numaraland›r›lmal›d›r. Tablolar, flekil, grafik ve resimlerin metin
içindeki yerleri belirtilmelidir.
Her tablo ayr› bir sayfaya çift aral›kl› flekilde haz›rlanm›fl olmal›d›r. Her bir tabloya
k›sa bir bafll›k verilmelidir. Aç›klamalar bafll›kta de¤il, dipnotlarda yap›lmal›d›r.
Dipnotlarda standart olmayan tüm k›saltmalar aç›klanmal›d›r. Dipnotlar
için s›ras›yla flu semboller kullan›lmal›d›r: (*,†,‡,§,||,,**,††,‡‡). Metin içinde
her tabloya at›fta bulunuldu¤una emin olunmal›d›r.

YAZIM KURALLARI
fiekiller ve grafikler profesyonel olarak çizilmeli veya foto¤raflanmal›, foto¤raflar
dijital bask› kalitesinde olmal›d›r. fiekiller ve grafiklerin JPEG ya da GIF format›nda
yüksek çözünürlükte (300 piksel) görüntü oluflturacak biçimlerde
elektronik dosyalar› kaydedilmeli ve kaydedilmeden önce bu dosyalar›n görüntü
kaliteleri bilgisayar ekran›nda kontrol edilmelidir. fiekil alt yaz›lar› ana metnin
sonuna ayr› olarak belirtilmelidir.
Röntgen, BT, MRG filmleri ve di¤er tan›sal görüntülemeler ve patolojik örneklerin
foto¤raflar› JPEG ya da GIF format›nda, yüksek çözünürlükte görüntü
oluflturacak elektronik dosya fleklinde kaydedilebilir. Resimlerin üzerindeki
harfler, say›lar ve semboller aç›k ve tüm makalede eflit, yay›n için küçültüldüklerinde
bile okunabilecek boyutlarda olmal›d›r. Resimler mümkün oldu¤unca
tek bafllar›na anlafl›labilir olmal›d›r. E¤er hasta(lar)n›n foto¤raf› kullan›lacaksa,
ya hasta(lar) foto¤raftan tan›nmamal› ya da hasta(lar) veya yasal olarak hasta(lar)dan
sorumlu yak›n›ndan yaz›l› izin al›nmal›d›r.
Ayr› bir sayfadan bafllayarak flekiller, grafikler ve resimler için alt yaz›lar ve dipnotlar
çift aral›kl› olarak ve numaralar ile hangi flekle karfl› geldikleri belirtilerek

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE AUTHORS
1. Hacettepe Medical Journal is the periodical journal of the deanship of the medical
faculty, which is published four times a year by Bilimsel Tip Yayinevi.
2. The aim of the journal; is to present advances in new diagnostic methods,
new developments, new treatment strategies, popular medical topics, in preclinical
and clinical medicine to the readers. In accordance with this goal, manuscripts
in the format of original research, review, case report, articles about
clinical and practical applications and editorials, short report and letters to
the editor about new diagnostic methods, new developments, new treatment
strategies, popular medical topics, in preclinical and clinical medicine are
published in the journal.
3. The official languages of the journal are Turkish and English. Turkish manuscripts
should comply with the Dictionary and Spelling Guide of the Turkish Linguistic
Society (http://tdk.org.tr). Anatomic terminology and names of microorganisms
should be based on Latin nomenclature. Terms in daily medical language
should be written as read and according to Turkish spelling rules.
Terms written in English or another foreign language should be indicated within
quotation marks.
4. All manuscripts submitted for publication should comply with “Uniform Requirements
for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals” produced and updated
by the International Committee of Medical Journals Editors (www.icmje.org).
5. Compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki Principles (http://www.wma.
net/en/30publications/10policies/b3/index.html) is accepted as the policy of
Hacettepe Medical Journal. Therefore, all manuscripts concerning human subjects
must contain a statement in the “Materials and Methods” section, indicating
that the study was approved by the Institutional Review Board. All
study subjects should be informed and written consent should be obtained
and this should be declared in the “Materials and Methods” section. All manuscripts
dealing with animal subjects must contain a statement indicating
that the study was performed according to “The Guide for the Care and Use
of Laboratory Animals” (www.nap.edu/catalog/5140.html) with the approval
of the Institutional Review Board, in the “Materials and Methods” section.
The Editor may ask for a copy of the approval document.
6. The editor has the right to format or reject the manuscripts which do not follow
the rules or send them back to the author for correction. Authors who
wish to withdraw their manuscripts need to state this to the editor in written
form.
7. Submitted papers are reviewed by the, the editor, the associated editors, and
at least one reviewer. The editor and associated editors may decide to send the
manuscript to a second reviewer. The editor and associated editors is the complete
authority regarding reviewer selection. The reviewers may be selected from
the International Advisory Board or independent national or international reviewers
may be selected when required for the topic of the manuscript.
8. The dates of received and accepted of the manuscript are stated in the end
of the manuscript when published in the journal.
9. The manuscripts should be submitted via online manuscript evaluation system
(www.hacettepetipdergisi.org).
10. The manuscript text should be written in Arial font, 12 point-type, double-spaced
with 1.5 cm margins on the left and right sides. The article should be prepared
with IBM compatible computer programs (Microsoft Windows, Word
98). The pages should be numbered starting with the title page. Page numbers
should appear at the bottom right corner of every page. The main text file
should not contain any information regarding author names and affiliations.
11. A cover letter (author agreement form), signed by the authors in the same
order of authors as stated in the article, declaring that the manuscript has not
been published or is not currently submitted to another journal and that the
manuscript is approved by all the authors should be e-mailed to htd@emanuscript.org
after being scanned or should be faxed to 0312 426 93 93 or sent
to “Prof. Dr. U¤ur Özçelik, Hacettepe T›p Dergisi Editörü, Hacettepe Üniversitesi

submitted concurrently with manuscript submission. The signed cover letter
should include scientific contributions and responsibilities of each author, and
whether there is a conflict of interest regarding manuscript.

12. All the entities that provide contribution to the technical content, data collection
and analysis, writing, revision etc. of the manuscript and yet do not meet
the criteria to be an author should be mentioned in the acknowledgement
part. If the contribution of the sponsor is only in the form of financial support,
this should be stated in the “Acknowledgement” section. If the sponsor has
participated in the methods, statistical analysis or manuscript preparation, this
contribution should also be stated in the “Materials and Methods” section. If
there is no conflict of interest it should also be stated.
13. The manuscript which has been presented previously as an abstract in any
congress or symposium may be mentioned on condition with the statement
of the date and the place of the meeting.
14. Abbreviations should be internationally accepted and should be defined accordingly
in the text in parenthesis when first mentioned and used in the text.
The abbreviated form should be used all throughout the article. “How to Write
and Publish Scientific Articles” (http://journals.tubitak.gov.tr/kitap/maknasyaz/)
can be referred for international abbreviations.
15. Title page of the manuscript should include the Turkish and English title of the
article, Turkish and English running title not exceeding 40 characters including
spaces as well as the full names, surnames and academic degrees of the authors.
The department, division and institution of the authors should be indicated.
Title page should also include address, e-mail, phone and fax number
of the corresponding author. Authors should indicate whether the research
has been presented previously in a congress or symposia.
16. All manuscripts except “Letters to the Editor” should include Turkish and English
abstracts. Abbreviations should be avoided in abstracts. References, figures,
tables and citations should not be used.
17. There should be two to five key words complying with the Index Medicus medical
Subject Headings (MeSH). Refer to www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html
for key words.
18. RESEARCH ARTICLES
Research Articles should include; Turkish title, Turkish structured abstract (limited
to 300 words structured as Objective, Materials and Methods, Results
and Conclusion), Turkish key words and English title, English structured abstract
(limited to 300 words structured as Objective, Materials and Methods,
Results and Conclusion), English key words. The other sections of the manuscript
should include Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion,
Acknowledgement (if required) and References. All sections of the manuscripts
should start on a new page. Research articles are not referred to exceed
5000 words and 40 references.
19. REVIEWS
Manuscripts in the form of “Reviews” are accepted when “invited” since
2009. In case of wishing to write a review about a current topic without being
“invited”, the editor and the associate editors should be contacted before
the manuscript is submitted. Review Articles should include; Turkish title,
Turkish abstract, Turkish key words and English title, English abstract and English
key words. The abstract should be prepared as one paragraph in “Review”
type articles and limited to 300 words. Structured abstract is not required.
Number of references should be limited to 40 if possible.
20. CASE REPORTS
Case reports should include Turkish title, Turkish abstract, Turkish key words,
English title, English abstract, English key words, Introduction, Case presentation,
Discussion and References. Introduction and Discussion sections of the
Case reports should be short and concise and the abstract should be prepared
as one paragraph. Structured abstract is not required. Case reports should not
exceed 1500 words and the number of references should not exceed 20.
21. SHORT REPORTS
Short reports should include research results in the related field in a short and
concise form. Short reports should be limited to 1500 words. Short reports
should include Turkish and English title, Turkish and English abstract in one
paragraph and 2-5 key words in Turkish and English. Number of tables should
be limited to 2 and that of the figure/graphic/picture should be limited to

22. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Letters to the Editor should be short and concise limited to 1000 words and
10 references, since they are prepared to criticize or contribute to the articles
previously published in the journal.
23. TABLES AND FIGURES
Tables, figures, graphics and pictures should be numbered with Arabic numbers
in order of reference in the text. Localization of tables, figures, graphics
and pictures should be indicated.
Each table should be prepared double spaced on a separate page. Each table
should contain a short title. Explanations should not be included in the title
but as a footnote. All abbreviations that are not standard should be expla-

ined in the footnote. The symbols in this order (*,†,‡,§,||,,**,††,‡‡) should
be used for the footnotes. All tables should be referred in the text.
Figures and graphics should be drawn or photographed professionally, and
should be in photograph quality when uploaded digitally. Electronic files of
the figures and graphics should be submitted in JPEG or GIF format with high
resolution (300 pixel) and the quality of these files should be checked on the
computer monitor. Figure legends should be indicated at the end of the main
text separately.
X-ray films, scans and other diagnostic images, as well as pictures of pathology
specimens should be submitted usually in dimensions of 127 x 173 mm
and in high resolution. Letters, numbers, and symbols on figures should be
clear and consistent throughout the article, and large enough to remain legible
when the figure is reduced for publication. Figures should be as self-explanatory
as possible. If patient photographs will be used, either the patient
should not be recognizable from the photograph or signed consent should be
obtained from the patient or his/her legal representative.
Legends for figures, graphics and pictures should be typed starting on a separate
page, double spaced, indicating the corresponding illustrations with
numbers. When symbols, arrows, numbers or letters are used to identify parts
of illustrations, define each one clearly under the illustration.
If quoted parts, tables, figures, graphics, pictures etc exist in the manuscript,
the authors should obtain written permission from the author and copyright
holder and indicate this.
24. REFERENCES
Data and manuscript not published yet should not be included among the references.
These should be stated in the main text as “author(s), unpublished
data, year”.
Reference numbers should be indicated at the end of the sentences in the
text as superscripts and references should be numbered consecutively in the
order they are mentioned in the text. Journal names should be abbreviated
as listed in “Index Medicus” or in “ULAKBIM/Turkish Medical Index”. References
should be typed in consistence with the following examples. Native references
should be used as much as possible.

publication belong to the deanship of the medical faculty. “Copyright Transfer
