UNIT OVERVIEW<br />
This unit involves assisting in the preparation of the<br />
budget by obtaining estimates of production costs, such<br />
as for personnel, equipment and facilities. It is about<br />
communicating with other departments to ascertain<br />
their needs. It may involve the co-ordinator getting<br />
involved in sourcing ‘Daily Rate’ crew.<br />
This unit is suitable for a production assistant, production<br />
co-ordinator or similar role.<br />
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING<br />
this is what you must know<br />
a) the priorities and requirements of the production<br />
and how to interpret the production schedule<br />
b) how to identify the funding requirements of relevant<br />
departments for different stages of the production<br />
c) how to estimate quantities and costs E.G<br />
Photocopy paper, film shipping boxes<br />
d) how to source ‘Daily Rate’ crew when required<br />
e) the current standard prices for resources, and<br />
where to find relevant suppliers<br />
f) how to use a suitable computer-based budgeting<br />
and financial control package<br />
g) why it is important to store budgetary<br />
information securely<br />
