COMMUNITY COLLEGE
LIFELONG LEARNING (LLL) PROGRAMMES
Currently, Lifelong Learning (LLL) Programmes in Community Colleges are in the
form of short courses to fulfil the needs of the local community. These courses
are aimed at improving the community’s quality of life and also to encourage, instil
and nurture LLL culture among community members. Apart from school leavers,
community colleges located mainly in rural and suburban areas also provide lifelong
learning opportunities by running short courses which are flexible and tailor-made
to the needs of members of the local community. The Malaysian Cabinet has
bestowed upon Community Colleges as “A Hub for Lifelong Learning” and hence
adopting the following Implementation Plan:

Offer various programmes which are relevant to the needs of the
community.
Maintain a database of senior citizens, pensioners and other
information related to local community.
Enhance communication and computer application skills of the
community.
Conduct tracer studies on the effectiveness of lifelong learning and
implement future action plans.
Involve the community in the development of the Community College
through the Community College Advisory Committee.
In line with the above plan, programmes offered at community colleges are
grouped in clusters such as the following:
