Seminars and Conferences
• Industry Dialogue 2008 with the theme “ Industry-Education Collaboration
for Sustainable Workforce Development-Meeting the Challenges” on 14th
October 2008 in Putrajaya International Convention Centre
• Three separate seminars on Logistics and Supply Chain Management were
held in Kuantan, Klang dan Seberang Perai from 21 st – 23 rd April 2009.
• 1st Professional Tea Talk was held at the DPCCE headquarters on the
24 th April 2009. Topics discussed were “Lean Manufacturing” and “Rapid
Manufacturing’ by Mr John Cawley from Victoria University, Australia.
• 2nd Professional Tea Talk was held at Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin
Abdul Aziz Shah on the 24 th June 2009. The talk was delivered by three
professors from Liverpool John Moores University, Professor Diane
Meehan, Professor Emil Levi and Professor J.F Zhang. Topics discussed
were “Multiphase Motor Drive Research’ and “Microelectronic Devices :
The past, the challenges and the future”.

• Industry Luncheon for West Malaysia was held on the 13 August 2009 at
Four Points by Sheraton in Kuching, Sarawak. The luncheon was attended
by 51 representatives from 39 industries in Sarawak and Sabah.

• National Industry Dialogue 2009 was held on 6 October 2009 with
the theme Workforce Development in a Changing Market by Engaging
Industries at Putrajaya International Convention Centre. The dialogue was
attended by 207 participants with 83 representatives from 56 agencies,
associations and public listed companies from the industry together with
senior officers from the Ministry of Higher Education, polytechnics and
community colleges

Research/Study
• A research project funded by The Higher Education Leadership Academy
(AKEPT) titled “The Future Context and Shape of Leadership, Governance
and Management in Malaysian Higher Education Institutions Focusing on
Polytechnics and Community Colleges”. The proposal for this research is
one of the 9 chosen out of 60 proposals.
• A research project funded by the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme
(FRGS) led by UKM titled: “The Status of Teaching and Learning Practices
in Problem-Based Learning at Polytechnics”.
• A Longitudinal Study on the implementation of Work-Based Learning
programmes at Community Colleges.
• A Comparative Study on Air Conditioning and Automotive programmes at
Polytechnics and Community Colleges.
• A Comparative Study on diploma and certificate programmes offered by
Higher Education Providers in Malaysia.
