Seminars and Conferences<br />
• Industry Dialogue 2008 with the theme “ Industry-Education Collaboration<br />
for Sustainable Workforce Development-Meeting the Challenges” on 14th<br />
<strong>October</strong> 2008 in Putrajaya International Convention Centre<br />
• Three separate seminars on Logistics and Supply Chain Management were<br />
held in Kuantan, Klang dan Seberang Perai from 21 st – 23 rd April <strong>2009</strong>.<br />
• 1st Professional Tea Talk was held at the DPCCE headquarters on the<br />
24 th April <strong>2009</strong>. Topics discussed were “Lean Manufacturing” and “Rapid<br />
Manufacturing’ by Mr John Cawley from Victoria University, Australia.<br />
• 2nd Professional Tea Talk was held at <strong>Politeknik</strong> Sultan Salahuddin<br />
Abdul Aziz Shah on the 24 th June <strong>2009</strong>. The talk was delivered by three<br />
professors from Liverpool John Moores University, Professor Diane<br />
Meehan, Professor Emil Levi and Professor J.F Zhang. Topics discussed<br />
were “Multiphase Motor Drive Research’ and “Microelectronic Devices :<br />
The past, the challenges and the future”.<br />

• Industry Luncheon for West Malaysia was held on the 13 August <strong>2009</strong> at<br />
Four Points by Sheraton in Kuching, Sarawak. The luncheon was attended<br />
by 51 representatives from 39 industries in Sarawak and Sabah.<br />

• National Industry Dialogue <strong>2009</strong> was held on 6 <strong>October</strong> <strong>2009</strong> with<br />
the theme Workforce Development in a Changing Market by Engaging<br />
Industries at Putrajaya International Convention Centre. The dialogue was<br />
attended by 207 participants with 83 representatives from 56 agencies,<br />
associations and public listed companies from the industry together with<br />
senior officers from the Ministry of Higher Education, polytechnics and<br />
community colleges<br />
DPCCE<br />
Research/Study<br />
• A research project funded by The Higher Education Leadership Academy<br />
(AKEPT) titled “The Future Context and Shape of Leadership, Governance<br />
and Management in Malaysian Higher Education Institutions Focusing on<br />
Polytechnics and Community Colleges”. The proposal for this research is<br />
one of the 9 chosen out of 60 proposals.<br />
• A research project funded by the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme<br />
(FRGS) led by UKM titled: “The Status of Teaching and Learning Practices<br />
in Problem-Based Learning at Polytechnics”.<br />
• A Longitudinal Study on the implementation of Work-Based Learning<br />
programmes at Community Colleges.<br />
• A Comparative Study on Air Conditioning and Automotive programmes at<br />
Polytechnics and Community Colleges.<br />
• A Comparative Study on diploma and certificate programmes offered by<br />
Higher Education Providers in Malaysia.<br />
