THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS<br />
(<strong>UC</strong> <strong>Davis</strong>) has more than 30,000 students and<br />
stretches over 2,000 hectares. A comprehensive university<br />
with more than 100 majors, <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Davis</strong> consists<br />
of schools, colleges and divisions of Letters and<br />
Science, Engineering, Agriculture and Environmental<br />
Sciences, Biological Sciences, Law, Management,<br />
Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. Ranked as one of<br />
the top 10 public research institutions in the country,<br />
<strong>UC</strong> <strong>Davis</strong> supports numerous laboratories and off-site<br />
facilities throughout the state. Its faculty is recognized<br />
worldwide for distinguished scholarly and scientific<br />
achievements.<br />
Students come from all over the United States and<br />
from countries throughout the world to attend <strong>UC</strong><br />
<strong>Davis</strong>. The academic year consists of three 11-week<br />
quarters. The fall quarter runs from late September to<br />
mid December; the winter quarter from early January<br />
to mid March; and the spring quarter from late March<br />
to mid June. In addition to its academic and research<br />
activities, the university boasts an excellent collection<br />
of sports facilities and a wide variety of student<br />
organizations and clubs creating an active and engaging<br />
student life. In fact, <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Davis</strong> has been ranked 14 out<br />
of 660 colleges in the country for fostering a healthy,<br />
“fit” lifestyle.<br />
With a strong commitment to fostering lifelong<br />
learning, <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Davis</strong> <strong>Extension</strong> is the professional<br />
and continuing education provider for the University<br />
of California, <strong>Davis</strong>. The International English<br />
and Professional Programs (IEPP) offers a growing<br />
number of programs for international participants.<br />
<strong>UC</strong> <strong>Davis</strong> <strong>Extension</strong> also draws international participants<br />
to many of its more unique public courses, such<br />
as law, agriculture, information technology, business<br />
management, viticulture and brewing—in traditional<br />
classroom and online learning formats. <strong>Extension</strong><br />
instructors are <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Davis</strong> faculty members and other<br />
professionals who are recognized for their expertise<br />
and contributions in their respective fields.<br />
